As a former Coastie, I feel for them. While the other Forces are getting paid, the Coast Guard falls under Homeleand Security. The Prrsident has in the past put the CG under the Navy during wartime.

The U.S. Coast Guard is the only military branch working without pay during the government shutdown.

Active-duty members got a one-time payment on Dec. 31, 2018, but their next payday, which would fall on Jan. 15, is still in limbo, leaving tens of thousands of military families fearing for their finances.

Goofy, I agree they should be paid but their funding comes from a portion of the Federal budget that doesn't allow it.  You act like there is only one side involved in this impasse.  Trump has asked for a paltry $5B for border security and Democrats refuse.  This slowdown is a bipartisan problem, not a Trump problem.  Either way, I hope he declares a national emergency and just goes ahead with the wall construction using the military.  Think about it, DOT has built tens of thousands of miles of walls for tens of billions of dollars to protect people from hoghway noise but Democrats refuse to allocate a measely $5B for the wall....all because of politics.

Trump said the Mexicans will pay $25billion for a wall. The $5.9 is a start. Then another $5 billion and another shutdown. Then another $5 and another. There is one answer...and it doesn't involve Americans paying for it. 

You and your fellow wing nuts keep writing that Obama promised you could keep your doc...and I keep writing Trump promised Mexico would pay for the wall....Your boy was elected by lying. Now, pay the piper.

I would love to hear how you would handle this if Trump were a Dem....LOLLLLLLLL We know.

And I also vividly remember when it came to lib commentary on gun control, "that if it would just save ONE life"  it was necessary.  I guess the saving of one life Fish is really not ALL that important to your ilk.  What hypocrisy, but it really shouldn't surprise us.

You are against the wall even if it could "save just one child" from death by lack of food/water/healthcare/rape on their way to the open border.

Now, show me where I am against a wall...wall is fine just get Mexico to pay for it. Trump was elected based on Mexico will pay for it. Now, he has his nuts in a vise because he lied. If a wall saved one officers life, or the life of one female sitting with her father on a San Fran pier, then using the logic from the left, the barrier is well worth the money.  I did not hear that from the American Gothic duo last evening.  

Regarding funding, did you really believe that Trump was figuring that Mexico would simply write a check?  He did not achieve the success he has had without being creative and cunning.  Mexico will pay because they have no choice.  MAGA

I did not vote for him based on who was going to pay for it, but the fact that he was at least willing to stand up for something that has been promised since Reagan was promised a wall for amnesty.  So you only want border secuity if someone else pays for it.  I never expected Mexico to write a check. 

Promises are always made on the campaign trail - Look at these  I am glad to know that you consider Obama a liar.  Make sure when you get to the bottom you click through all 7 pages - 

As for where you draw the line on gun bans and "assault weapons" why dont you just spell out what you are willing to give up.  Seems like every time there is a shooting you are always asking why do people need ar15s etc - sound to me like you are unhappy that there are currently between 5 and 10 million of them currently in the US.

I personally would like to know which 2200 guns they name as exemptions - last time they pushed the ban a few years ago they actually would have banned the Marlin 60 .22 which I have hunted wtih since I was about 6.

Amazing that so many people doing the mass shootings passed the background check.  Sounds like a "manufactured crisis" to me in terms of lets make more laws that only the law abiding are going to follow- bad people do not follow the law and breaking one more is not going to slow them down. 

I would be more impressed if they were looking into the 80% that passed that went on to commit murder and figure out where the current background check failed.
