Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday issued a warning to Republicans poised to support President Trump's decision to declare a national emergency at the southern border: the next Democratic president, she said, could do the same on guns.

 

I think there is a major difference.  The border wall is not going to shoot back.

 

If a President decided to do an end run around the 2nd amendment and attempt massive gun control through a national emergency call, that will be the shot heard around the country as the next civil war starts regardless of what party tried it.

From the Declaration of Independence:

  There is now a peaceful revolition brewing and that is the Convention of States. Under Article V of the Constitution if 2/3 of the  states vote to hold a convention they can propose amendments to the Constition. Then these are submitted to the whole country and if 3/4 of the states ratify these amendments they become law without ever going thru Washington!

   They are proposing term limits and making our elected officiald subjected to the same laws as we the people and only that! We are tired of two term millionares! Some 13 states have already passed this resolution. Join it and lets do it!!!

While I agree that her example is ridiculous, there is no doubt in my mind that future Presidents will abuse a national emergency declaration.  It's why we told Harry Reid that they would regret the nuclear option on judges.  The reality here is that Congressmen/women have over the last 25 years abrogated far too much of their responsibility to legislate to the executive/judicial branches and the beauracracy.  For them it's all about not doing anything that would harm their reelection chances.  I for one wish Congress would do their jobs and that the executive and judicial branches, and especially the beaurcracy, return to their original roles.  Yeah I know, we gotta dream.......
