I am having a new dock built this year.. Is there any suggestions I can get a head of the game when it comes to protecting

my new dock?

Thanks

You can buy or make your own traps.  Just hang them arround the boat house.

yeah, we have a few hanging around our old dock but I was hoping there was something that would repel them all together.

Old holes, wd40 works great.  New curing wood, 50/50 reg vinegar and water works , just have to keep applying every 3 weeks, then treat it with water repellent.

I’ve had lots of dock, walkways, decking, etc for many years with no problem with carpenter bees.....use treated wood for ALL exposed wood, or stain or paint with oil based paint.  Simple.

I'll take your Carpenter bees and raise you a wood pecker who is destroying the Cedar posts in my carport.  It seems he is determined to have the loudest pecking sound to impress the ladies.  What  a mess - much more than the carpenter bees, although we have them too.

Woodpeckers virtually destroyed some cedar railings in search of whatever the carpenter bees left behind.

Lucky you.  Pressure treated lumber doesn't repel them at my house.

First come the Carpenter Bees, then the Woodpeckers digging for the bee larvae. A couple years ago it looked like I had blasted my steps with buckshot.  I have Top Gun Pset Control treat for Carpenter Bees yearly. The cost is $200/yr.  I don't know if what they do is effective but I haven't seen any Bee activity since the treatment.

Wow, going to check with my pest control and see if they have a treatment.  Woodpeckers are tearing apart my cedar supports in the carport.
