i would really appreciate recommendations. We are not able to spend time at the lake for a while due to some family issues, but have been made aware we have a problem with mice. 

In over 20 years at the lake, this is a first  

I have driven down to vacuum droppings so the company putting out traps can determine if they have them all. Their attention to this is way below acceptable and mice seem to be multiplying. 

Any recommendations greatly needed and appreciated!

gosh, never heard anyone having this issue--beeen here full time 13 years & dont know why we bother to have pest people out--luckily we never see bugs, rodents, etc.; we use SWAT & highly recommend--but dont know if they have a cure for rats--but they are good family owned company 334-283-4111

We had the same problem over the winter a few years ago.  Red Flag Pest Control put some outside bait traps and plunged the entry points

In the short term, I definitely support SWAT.  Good people and very responsive.

On the longer term, you need to get some spray insulation and look for every crack and crevice that they may be getting in on. 

Or get yourself some outdoor cats (but only if you have someone to feed them and that they are spayed/neutered).
