We did as well! It seems everyone owns a wakeboard boat of some sort...the waves were tremendous!

We did the same thing, after being on the lake for 16yrs....... we no longer plan/or enjoy  going out on holiday weekends .

Agree, but it’s just 3 or four weekends out of 52 weeks.  And 9-12 days out of 365 days.  I wouldn’t trade life at lake Martin for anywhere else!

We live here full time, but nothing could entice me to go out on the water on the weekend.  During the week we can take our boat out and it is so peaceful and quiet.  We survive quite nicely staying off the water on weekends.

Waited until sixish last night and took my daughter and her two weekend guests on a long ride.  Still a little choppy but significantly less than the madness Sunday.  Hound we circled by your place but didn't see anyone outside so kept on going.

Don't say "tremendous;" they'll think you mean "great" when what you really mean is "huge." And then we'll see even more waves, because "Did you hear? People LOVE the big waves we make; they think they're tremendous! Everybody, into your boats! Fill those bladders so we can make bigger waves; we want to make those people happy!"

Don't ever go there.  Massive crowds, wakeboard boats blasting hip hop, drunken teenagers on jet skis, Marine Police hassling anyone they could find.....it's just awful.  Stay away from there if you value your life and property.

On the lighter side, man was it hot.  I mean August hot this weekend.  Not going out was not an option.  Played golf Saturday morning at Stillwaters and while a little slow and the greens are only at around 60% it was still nice to get out and play.  Another month and the greens should be back although the sand traps are mostly sand in name only.  Rest of the course is in pretty decent shape.  Did I mention it was hot?

We made the mistake of venturing out on Sunday.  Rode from near the dam up to and into Elkahatchee Creek and back.  Many crazy boaters and very rough.  The worst part, though, was all of the trash we saw on the water, especially in Elkahatchee Creek  It was absolutely awful.  We could have literally picked up enough floating bottles, cans and plastic bags to fill up our tri-toon  I have never in my 20 years of boating this lake seen it so bad, except after the tornado in the Spring of 2011.  It was truly sad, and I hope this is not the new normal for the lake.

We were here, but I don't think we were sitting outside.  I got home around 4 and husband was famished, so I cooked an early dinner.  We were probably inside watching the news.    I'm surprised my hounds didn't rush out and down on the dock to say HI, although since it has been so hot, they are spending quality time in the AC.

I'm afraid that will be the new norm for the lake.  Look at how people behave when they are on land, and they are not going to change because they are on the water.  They seem to think it's up to others to pick up their trash.  As they continue to develop the lake you can expect more wake boats too.  We've only been here full time for 10 years, and I can see a change already.

You are correct...bad choice of words. Not that it will matter much because the monster wave producing boats aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

I always post this about the Sandy Creek area when people are aggravated with the crowds.  Was a little busier than normal but nothing compared to other areas of the lake.  I tell people it was awful to keep them away.
