Robert Mueller has a long and distinguished record for service to our country.  No matter which side of the political spectrum one supports, you have to be sad that the Robert Mueller who testified before Congress today is a shell of the man Robert Mueller used to be.  I simply am befuddled that he could be so ignorant of the contents and genesis of the report that bears his name.  If that was his demeanor during the two year investigation is is clear to me that the investigation was run by and the result of work by others on his team.  That they could find nothing in the way of collusion, in spite of their apparent political orientation, is testament to the fact that there was nothing for them to find.

Can we get past this and concentrate together on making our country the best and strongest it can?

It sure looks like  Andrew Weissmann was running the show. Is it any wonder that the investigation lasted over 2 years? All the biased Democratic lawyers had a "Gold Mine" open to them. The investigation cost $25 million throuigh 2018 and another $8 million is estimated for 2019. There was no "hurry" to wrap up the investigation since we the "taxpayers" were their "employers". That bunch of "lawyers have to be laughing all the way to the bank. It would be nice if this whole "outcome" could backfire on Weissman the way some of his previous cases have been described. He is known as an expert in "converting defendents into collaborators".  It is said that if Mr. Mueller was the "stern-eyed public face" of the investigation, Mr. Weissmann was its "pounding heart", a bookish, pit bull with two Ivy League degrees, weakness for gin martinis and classical music and a list of past enemies that includes professional killers and white collar criminals. It was Weissmann who oversaw the "predawn raid of Mr. Manafort's Virginia residence when federal agents picked his lock and prosecutors communicated their intention to indict him. Is there any doubt that General Flynn got "caught" in Weissmann's "web"? Weissmann also sent an email to outgoing Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, praising her for refusing to enforce the first iteration ot Presiden Trump's travel ban. He said "I am so proud and in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respect". Weissmann was also in a position of "power" during the "Clinton Uranium Controversy. There are other "questionable" connections of Weissmann which includes "Enron's" downfall and so many other involvements that I quit looking so I could make this post. Also, Roger Stone's SWAT team arrest was more of Wissemann's "modus operandi". It is sad that Mueller let this "wildman" take over his investigation and "tarnish" what should have been the "waning" days of an otherwise illustrious career.

Can folks now get past this nonsense?  Unfortunately no.  The political parties are corrupt and have other masters to serve.

It will take another 911 to unite this country.

in the meantime, ain’t this cool weather on Lake Martin great!

I couldn't agree with you more.  I was just reading an article this morning that said that during the investigation, he maintained regular hours, unlike his previous schedule of getting to work at 6 am and working well into the night.  The article talked about his lack of stamina and laser focus yesterday.  And about how he seemed to be more dependent on the deputies, than he previously might have been.

I still like to think that there are career civil servants who serve honestly and with integrity.  I don't know what to make of Mueller - was he just a front man?  By the time of the investigation, was he just worn down by years in Washington (and you know as well as I do, that Washington will wear you down).  One thing I noted was that he seems to have hearing loss (not surprising) and seemed to have trouble following some of the "question within a speech".  Maybe he is just tired of the whole damn thing.

I expect that Democrats will try to continue keeping this entire thing going through the election cycle, because it's the only thing they have to hang their hat on - however small a hook it turned out to be.

One note - I wonder if Trump now realizes that what you say during the campaign can come back to bite you in the butt.  It was not a happy moment when his comments about Wikileakes was recited yesterday when he appeared to be cheering on the hacking.  He needs to think about that.

Like most people that have been doing what Mueller has for as long as he has there are instances of fine service and some examples of egregious behavior.  But one thing is certain, Mueller was not running this investigation nor was he even much involved, he was a celebrity endorser.  Hard to say whether he has lost mental acuity or he was simply not involved and decided not to prepare.  Either way, his reputation has taken a big hit and I have to say I am struggling feeling sorry for him because it was a self-inflicted wound.

As for whether we can move on.....most of the country did that months ago after the report was issued and discussed ad nauseum.  What we have right now is the far left in govt and the media and Never Trumpers who suffer from TDS and I am hard pressed to believe they will let this go.  Look, these hearings should have never happened because the outcome was predetermined by the report.  And the only highlight for the left only lasted 2 hours before Mueller walked back his lie about the OLC guidance.  But by then the lie had gotten around the world while the truth hasn't even gotten up.  WaPo still had his lie up for hours after he had retracted it.

What I think most of the people who still believe in the obstruction fantasy don't understand is that Trump's reaction to this was because he knew they were innocent and he knew that Mueller and his team of lawyers had multiple conflicts of interest.  But at the end of the day the WH fully cooperated with the investigation as Mueller himself admitted in his testimony.  There was no collusion.  There was no conspiracy.  There was no obstruction of the investigation.

I have been musing a point all morning - If I ask you a question are you obligated to answer fully?  The point was made yesterday by Mueller that he did not answer all of the written questions he was asked, or some he did not answer fully.  I guess it depends on the question - it if is a question like when did you stop beating your wife - well, if you never beat your wife in the first place - would you  be within your right to refuse to answer?  If you only give me a partial answer is that the same as lying?

Rather amusing since conventional wisdom is "if you don't want to answer the question asked, answer one that you do" and "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging".

He did exactly what he said he was going to do....not go beyond the report. Just like any executive, he had staff who ran the day to day details. He is a Repubican appointed by Republcans who's work led to jail time for other Republicans. Roger Stone will be the next to fall. Guess what..another Republican.

Send Flynn, Cohen, and Manafort a post card and tell the Republican crooks that Mueller was a failure.

A bunch of process crimes and acts that had nothing to do with Trump was worth tens of millions of dollars and years of false accusations against a duly elected President?!?!?  If you consider that success I can understand why you are a Democrat.

"A bunch if process crimes"........now that is funny chit. Tell that to their wives...your Republican criminal hubby is just guity of a process crime. No big deal.

Why are you so concerned with Trump? I assume lying 10,000 times doesn't even rise to a process crime...it's just normal behavior for Deficit Trump.

If you had a shred of decency it would make you sick what they did to Flynn and Papadopoulis.  Manafort and Cohen not so much.

that every single person on this forum knows if the same report was produced with the only change being a (D) after the president's name those with an (R) after their name would ALL be marching in the street demanding Impeachment, or better yet, a hanging!

pot / kettle...goose / gander...as usual
