Is that the white nationalist one or the Elizabeth Warren loving, democrat socialist, antifa loving one that the leftists seem to be not talking much about?

And yet this idiot is still blaming the gun.  He could have killed as many people with a truck or a bomb.  Just ask Timothy McVeigh.

Guns just seem to be the weapon of choice these days. The nut in Dayton had a tricked out AR15 with a special double drum magazine capable of holding 100 rounds. Now tell me...who the hell needs anything like that to hunt?

And yes, I own a firearm.

Not something I would ever do to my AR-15.  But lots of gun enthusiasts make these changes and never shoot anyone.  And remember, the worst mass killings in the U.S. happened with two airliners and a truck full of fertilizer and diesel.  It's not the tools.......

And I have two 33 round magazines for my Glock 9mm and a dozen 30 round magazines for my AR-15.  Does that make me a Domestic Terrorist?  Rather, I would submit to you if things get out of hand and we are threatened by roving gangs looking to rape and pillage I am prepared to defend my “castle”, not terrorize my fellow law abiding citizens.

But largely due to the .223-caliber high-capacity rifle with 100-round magazines he was wielding, 30 seconds was all the time he needed to leave nine people dead and at least 27 others injured before he was killed by police.

You really think you would try and take him out with a pistol? Or, do you carry your AR15 with 30 magazines when you go to the mall??

More and more people will order online to avoid shopping. Buy Amazon.

Ummm....the police in Dayton took him out with their handguns in 30 seconds.  So yes, it works.  And there was no one to do the same in El Paso.  But I agree this will have a big impact on traditional stores since most of them do not allow concealed carry.  Expect them to hire armed guards.  So buy Amazon and companies that provide armed guards.

i must say regarding assault  rifles, I support a total ban--why does anyone need these , except military, maybe police/swat

MR. HOJA: please tell me why you need such an arsenal as you describe in your post--Im at a loss--I have a simple 38 & 12 gauge, and feel comfortably safe

First, my "arsenal" is paltry compared to a lot of folks.  Next, on a day-to-day basis almost all of it is locked in my gun safe, as the current threat climate is relatively benign.  Next, my house has a fair amount of ground around it and is vulnerable from multiple attack vectors and thus there may be a need for multiple simultaneous active defenders.  But the bottom line is that I had much rather be in possession of defense weapons that I never have to get out of the gun safe than to be attacked and not be able to defend myself and my family because I don't have the tools to do so.  You are comfortable with your two weapons, I am comfortable with mine.

The point of my post, though, was that simply possessing such weaponry does not make a person bad, a terrorist, or for that matter a threat to anyone.

If someone has pent-up emotions that dictate that they "kill" someone, they will find whatever they need as a weapon to relieve their anger.

Assault rifles were banned during the Clinton administration.  What we have here is .223 caliber rifles that look like military style weapons.  The reality is that they are a semi-automatic weapon just like a handgun.  And very few mass murders involve a gun like an AR-15.  The point here is that even if you ban AR-15's because they look scary, crazed perps will accomplish the same mayhem with semi-automatic handguns.  And they will trick them out with double large capacity clips and will have the same firepower. There is a really interesting video on youtube (assuming it hasn't been banned) where a guy using a tricked out handgun was actually able to fire as many shots in a set timespan as he was able to with an AR-15 of similar capacity.

So banning these particular wepons will do zero to eliminate the problem and taking these kind of rifles away from law abiding citizens will likewise accomplish nothing.  Until we address the issues in our culture that cause young men to act out like this we will see more of these horrific acts.

As he is not a criminal I have no concern what he has or does not have in terms of firearms or ammuntion.  My only concern is putting information out for the public as to what you own.

I had a neighbor growing up who liked to show off what he had and pretty much everyone knew where they were kept.  It was not suprising that someone broke in and took every gun in his house and touched nothing else.

My dad always said the less someone knows about what you own the better.  Same idea goes with leaving large 60+" TV, surround sound, and expensive equipment boxes at the side of the road and highly visable.  Bad people pay attention to details that many would not think about.

"Until we address the issues in our culture that cause young men to act out like this we will see more of these horrific acts."

Send a TWEET to Trump and tell him that the language he used in Panama City Fl about shooting someone is unacceptable.

"Trump has repeatedly encouraged his supporters to be physically violent with people who protest him. Some examples:

  • “If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. OK? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees.”

  • “You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out in a stretcher, folks. I’d like to punch him in the face, I tell ya.”

  • “Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

At a rally in Panama City Beach, Florida, in May, Trump mused about how to stop undocumented immigrants. In response, a woman yelled, “Shoot them!” The president joked: “That’s only in the Panhandle, you can get away with that statement. Only in the Panhandle!”

You can put your head in the sand but Trump is president and change needs to start at the top.

"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun," Obama said at a fundraiser in Philadelphia Friday, according to pool reports.

Goofy, you really need to look beyond who the current President is to understand the culture and our problems.  I don't know what it is with you left wing nuts that place so much emphasis on one guy in one office as if all of America sits around all day waiting for instructions from DC.  Once again, the bigotry of low expectations except it now applies to all Americans.....except of course you enlightened leftists.  The culture is way more than who sits in some political office.   It is significantly more complicated than that and has many more influences that impact it.  News flash for you, most of us not suffering from TDS recognize the limitations of the President when it comes to influencing the culture.

The news media, social media, entertainment, academia, family, our social circle, religious affiliation or lack thereof, etc. influence our culture far more than the current guy in the Oval office.  Until you on the left stop using tragedies to blame your political opponents in order to score points you will never understand or even be worth engaging on this issue.  You don't give a rats behind about the culture and how it promotes these violent acts and I am not even sure you care to stop these mass shootings as long as it feeds your mental illness of Trump hatred.  You frankly are more interested in pointing fingers at some guy you hate, just like Bill Maher is wishing for a recession because ruining people's lives is way less important to him than getting rid of Trump.  That is a sickness that permeates the left.

Neither of these two dirtbags were influenced by Trump or Warren or Sanders or any other politician.  They were a product of our rotten culture of death and people like you are the reason it will never change.

You are exactly right.  AR's that haven't been modified are no different than a hunting rifle. And that is one of the difficulties in banning them, because you have to figure out a way to describe them that doesn't involve banning all semi-automatics.  Now, I understand that there is information on the internet on how to make it fully automatic, which is, of course, illegal.  But I am led to believe there are kits out there.  I think a lot of people get confused and excited beause the ARs look like their military counterpart.  My opinion is that this is mostly a marketing ploy that appeals to a certain segment of the gun market.  Get ready for the prices to go up, because that is what happens every time there is talk about gun control and banning ARs.  If they want to ban something, let them ban those magazines that hold 100-150 bullets like the one perpetrator carried.  It would be a feel good action.

I agree with you.  Trump is just one man - if Trumps words were the problem, then an entire populartion would be out there shooting people.  (I notice no one blamed Obama for stirring up violent riots over police "bruality with his words).

But Trump does need to tone it down.  Not because it will stop mass shootings, but because he is giving Dems low haning fruit to criticize him and lead the weak minded to refuse to look at the other causes for these shootings.
