I attempted through email, text and voicemail to contact you and you admittedly did not respond. That is not fraud but fact.

David, unsolicited advice here.  Look at what went wrong and fix it ASAP.  

I liked your marketing here and on Facebook, return calls, etc even if you have someone else do it.  Good luck.

I don't know Mr McCain nor have I ever contacted him or tried to hire him.

The problem is customer service, and he is not the only contractor that seems to have this attitude.  It's an attitude of indifference.  I wish that when I call someone, if they are booked solid or don't have an interest in my job, they would just tell me upfront.  Customers are kept waiting for a call back, waiting for a no-show, waiting for the estimate that never comes.  I don't know why this is so hard.  It is also short sighted - beause while work may be plentiful now, down the road it might not be the case, but you will have been written off by potential customers, because you didn't bother to respond on another job.  Some people might not call you out on the forum, but if you didn't respond, you can be sure that a discreet email may be exchanged about you.  Great customer service will save your reputation.

Thanks for clarity on yet another person not to be relied on. It's a mystery to me why people would ever run a business like that, but it's more common than it should be. 

Plenty of folks out there who care about their customers both current and future. Those that care not a bit about the latter seldom give a rip about the former, IMHO.

Mr McCain, I and my family do all our own painting, carpentry, trim work, etc., so I don't have a dog in this hunt.  A candid observation is that you may indeed be a cut above the usual vendors of your services we encounter around the lake.  You speak very highly of yourself but are quick to come across as argumentative when that self-perception is challenged.  You can't talk your way into work with this group, you have to work your way into it, doing excellent work on time and for a reasonable price.  Do that and the word will get around and you will build a loyal client base.  But the attitude you have shown here is going to make it tough to do.  Be the Cat Boat of the painting world and I guarantee you will get work.

Guys I posted here originally to try and get in touch with McCain Painting as I would only be at the lake for an afternoon and morning to try and meet.

I will say this as a result of this thread I have heard from a painting contractor who can do what I need although it will be at least 6 weeks before they can get to me. That is fine because good communication is really simple and essential with the technology we have available.

Even if McCain was referring to Lifers post I did not see any kind of fraudulent statement.

lets just all get along life is too short for BS.

I made no fraudulent claims. I said IF not 5hat you did. This forum has helped launch a couple of successful businesses and certainly helps keep many with a steady stream.of loyal customers. It has also been the downfall of a couple. While you are "delaying response" there are other painters who wontyour roll out here has been a disaster dude. Don't blame me.

Sadly my nephew needs a painter very soon to do all three levels of his new consrturction. Guess who won't get a call.

I've used Joe for my exterior.  Good prices and they did a great job.  But he is busy so be patient.  It will be worth the wait.

You probably got more business by word of mouth than anyone else that advertises.  When you do good work, you don't have to advertise because your customers will do it for you.  I know you don't like me Cat, but even I would recommend you for your work.

I understand he is very good.  My experience with him was this - I called and he came out and looked at my job, promised me an estimate and I never heard from him.  (and this was well before the beginning of the busy season) I would likely try him again, but with some skepticism.  You prodded him and he eventually told me he would do some painting for me, but by that time, I had made other arrangements.  One thing that I was impressed about was that he had experience working with a metalic paint that I was wanting to put on a wall.

As I understand from talking to Joe he also does a lot of new home painting jobs and that is a bif part of his business.  Because it's repeat business  I think he tends to defer to their schedules over the one off projects which is why I said to be patient if you want to use him.  He is very reasonable cost wise and did an excellent job on our house.  But we weren't in a hurry so it worked out fine.
