Tallapoosa County Sheriffs Office has a course a couple of times a year. I would check with them.

Go to a local range and ask, or go to the NRA site and look for a class. If you have never had a gun you need to learn the basics before you get deeper into training. The NRA Basics classes are good to let you experience firearms with qualified, certified instructors.

Check at Lake Martin Machine Guns on Hwy 229, South side of Lake Martin. 2520 Red Hill Road, Eclectic, Al  888 660-6462. They have a program for women, I think it is named Girls with Guns.

You are in luck, there are several choices for you close to the lake:

The A Girl and a Gun Chapter for Lake Martin is based at the Lake Martin Machine Gun Range - and taught by Jodie McGirt - a certified NRA Instructor - as someone mentioned - 888-660-6462 or on Facebook as well

In Alex City - there is Woody's NRA class he does a great job with based out of SureShot.

The Sherriff departments usually have monthly classes, and do a great job as well.

The most important thing, you have realized getting training is the most important part of our right to bear arms.
