The first thing necessary for the success of a nation,

Is that its leaders must be altruistic.

They must sacrifice self… for country.

If the reverse is true,

The nation will suffer… and decline.

Political position must be an avocation,

NOT a profession.

His personality… does not matter.

His attractiveness… does not matter.

A sovereign… a president… a premiere,

must love his country and its people.

By his acts, he must earn their admiration,

They must feel his presence in their very lives.

If they suffer… he is selfish.

If they prosper… he is benevolent.

Judge

Only on what he does.

NOT, what he says.

what our ''leader'' did today in abandoning our Kurdish allies in Syria, to the tender embrace of their mortal enemy...Turkey?  The same allies that for 5 years has fought, bled and died beside our military in the fight against Isis.

Is that leadeship we can all be proud of Maj?

And another quick question...do you really honestly think Trump meets the criteria of self-sacrifice for the nation described in the lovely prose you posted?

See where TDS has gotten us?  For 8 years of Bush the left screamed bloody murder and now all of the sudden they are defense hawks because Trump is doing what he said he would do.  Think of all the money we'll save...I mean y'all cried about every dime spent in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Besides, I never heard a peep from you when Obama did what he did in Syria.  TDS has turned you into war hawks, deficit hawks, puritans and so on.  It's a mental illness.  Seek help.

You are baiting me... right?

that’s his MO.  He cares not about soldiers but to discredit the president at all costs.  So yes he is baiting you.

When will we remove ourselves from useless wars at the cost of our young people?  But I look forward to your response.

l’m asking a question.  Strange how so many people on this forum seem to consider a simple question some subversive conspiracy. You posted the comment but l guess l was wrong to think you might proffer an opinion as to whether the current President fit your drscription of good leadership in general and the need to be willing to sacrifice self for country in particular.

but l am not for abandoning our allies to a scary fate withou their input and to the apparent surprise of our own military leadership!  I know this chaps your azz, but you know you would be raising holy he!! If Barack Obama had pulled the same stunt!

Now, what is your opinion of Donald Trump’s personal sacrifices to put country above self?

if Trump does it, it’s bad.  If Trump doesn’t do it, it bad.  TDS works that way, hun?

We need to get out of all wars, police states.  Americans want us out and those affected (NATO) has to accept their responsibility otherwise that is their choice.

So Archie, which war do you favor?

Your reference to "lovely prose" in your post just further shows your "inability to appreciate" the thoughts that MAJ USA RET has presented for each of us to "consider" in determining those things that are necessary to make a "successful nation". In your "warped" mind, please tell us how you think Adam Schiff and his fellow Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, AOC and her squad, Strozk-Page with their insurance policy, McCabe, Comey, Rosenstein, Brennan, Hillary, and all the others who are still hiding as members of the Deep State, "stack up" when compared to the "lovely prose" so eloquently provided by MAJ USA RET.

Architeect -

Because I teach a course on the American Revolution, I was thinking of Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin (et al).  They served their country at their own expense.  Marquis de Lafayette (of France) lost his fortune financing our revolution.  All of them… in true Masonic practice… revealed that “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” would prove more beneficial than personal fortune.  Each of them earned a legacy of reverence.

The “lovely prose” I wrote is based in the selflessness of our founding fathers.  I did not name or even indirectly refer to a single 20th or 21st century president.

You name a president (leader) and then form your own opinion based on my premise(s). YOU judge or convict a president (leader) based on his benefit… or degradation… of our nation.

I consider how my family has fared under the last several presidential terms.  I regard the performance of my retirement portfolio in the same light.

Let me remind you that I served in Iraq under the Obama administration and… to be fair… under the scraps of the Bush administration.

In closing, I repeat my quote from Anaïs Nin:

We don’t see thinks as THEY are;

We see them as WE are.

lm glad the man whose name you didn’t speak has been good for your fiscal health...mine too though not quite as good as Obama, but how would you compare the leadership, beyond money, of that man you didn’t mention with Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Franklin.  I would assume a teacher of the history of our fight for freedom would have an assessment.

Now, l do very much thank you for your service!  You would be a good Commander in Chief!

PS: Of course my assessment of the unnamed one is opinion and l would expect you have one too.  My opinion is based on what l see and hear every day and it scares He!! out of me!

Archie, never did I think I would say it, but how does it feel being a Neocon?  You guys used to say "no blood for oil", "it is Bush's war", under your dear leader Obama, and now you want a never ending US military presence is the cesspool that is the Middle East. Archie the NEOCON!  Has a good ring to it.   How about using the money saved by getting out of Syria on making Social Security solvent?  We don't want our finest men and women dieing in a place that has not changed in thousands of years for people who never appreciated our effort.  Good for Trump.  Build that wall.  Come up with money for an alternative to Oblamer care, decrease deficit spending, trim welfare and MAGA!

Now that you have mentioned it, how do you assess Obama and all the others I have mentioned in my post below in comparison to Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin(et al)?

No politician in, including Obama, has come even close to Thomas Jefferson with the obvious exception of Abe Lincoln.  TR, FDR, and Truman were among the few who could even play in the same league.  Donald Trump is the least ''Jeffersonian'' occupant of the WH ever, he!!, he is the least qualified ever.  Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, the Roosevelts, Truman, and Reagan are rolling in their graves!

Dem’s always want to elect some icon, do-Gooder, saint (if they believed in God) but business experience and acumen are actually excoriated by them.  Trump’s a businessman and he knows the art of the deal (wrote a book about it, remember?) and he’s got the economy humming, jobs booming, etc.  He’s far from perfect but I don’t need a little tin god in the Whitehouse, I need a really hard worker who actually accomplishes things that help people, not make ridiculous promises that can never work.

Dem-Ins would rather spend money on endless investigations, subpoenas, and televised show trials — and no mistake, these have already cost the taxpayers multi millions of dollars.

Just as I expected. Not a single comment about the "worthiness" of any of the "characters" I made reference to. Thought you might at least belittle Strzok since he used the "smell" you find in Walmart resulting from Walmart customers as his way of identifying support for President Trump as well as well as insurance if the inevitable should happen. How do you defend the likes of such a person being a representative of our national government?

''Trump is a bussiness man, he even wrote a book on the Art of the Deal''...Rosie I hope you are aware that Donald Trump didn't write one word of that book and that most real business men (the one that actually build things and provide services) consider him a joke as far as actually doing business.  He is a ''good businessman'' to the extent that he has managed to create a false impression in the masses that he is able to actually make millions by just selling his name and taking a cut of the profits.  He has now moved up to profiting of the good name (to the extent we still have a good name after 3 years of his BS) of the USA!

The allies who do not chant "Death to America?"

The allies who have not been in the middle of a civil war for 1000 years?

The allies who can stand on their own two feet and not have their hand out like a teenager without a job wanting to go to the movies?

A war that was actually voted on in congress, are is not just presidential decision.  We keep talking about how Trump needs to go to congress for war authorizations, but apparently thats only since Oblamer is no longer in office.

The Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against the Government of Syria to Respond to Use of Chemical Weapons (S.J.Res 21) is a United States Senate Joint Resolution that would have authorized President Barack Obama to use the American military to intervene in the ongoing Syrian Civil War. The bill was filed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on September 6, 2013 in a specially scheduled pro forma Senate session that took place during the last week of the August recess.[1] The bill would have authorized only 60 days of military action, with the possibility of a one-time extension of 30 days.[2] The bill would have specifically prohibited the use of ground troops. However, this bill never received a floor vote in either the House or Senate.[2]

One thing I do find interesting about this whole pull out of Syria crisis - the way the reporting is going you would think it was 1000s of people, from one report I heard that 26 soldiers were moved already and there was a total of about 50 relating to this pull out.  It is amazing to think that so few of our soldiers are so awesome that they were literally keeping multiple countries from invading.

And yes, I do think our soldiers are awesome.
