Does anyone have a contact for Alabama Power about possibly purchasing an off water lot?  There are several lots across the street from us that are owned by Alabama Power and we are interested in buying one if they will sell it.

Thanks!

I've done many of these over the years--The contact has changed over the years -was always handled by Clanton office but that's closed-I suggest calling Office in Dadeville that monitors permits -they can probably get you to the person -in B'ham now I think

If you find out anything will you let us know?  I approached Alabama Power about buying some of their property next to our house (either he whole lot or part of it) about 8 years ago and was told that Alabama Power had no plans to sell any of their property.  I know since then, they have permitted some people to buy their leased lake lots.  It would have made so much easier the building of our garage/loft if we had been able to acquire the additional property.

I built a house about 4 years ago and needed the property next door for my septic. Alabama Power sold it to me but not before some haggling on the price. They were very proud of that 1 acre offshore piece of land.  They told me to make an offer and I did for $3 or $4K based on advice from the tax assessor.  The land was pretty much useless for anything.  They came back at $25K.  We agreed on $15K.  I think I dealt with someone in Birmingham.  Again, I needed the lot because of the new septic ordinances and didn't have enough land on my lot to accomdate it.  APC wasn't to bad to work with except for the price they wanted.

Old thread, but for anyone looking in the future, AlaPower now says they won't bother with anything for less than 35,000.  The lot I had in mind is assessed for less than 7,000 and had very little useable area for what I wanted so I said no thanks.
