So every Friday morning I attend a Gospel reflection with a group of mysogynist Catholic men who believe in scary stuff like the traditional marriage, personal responsibility, religious freedom and other stuff that used to be normal.  And then I head to work and on the way I stop at Hoboken Deli for an Ossiogo bagel with bacon and egg...no cheese.  I was talking to another patron while waiting on my bagel and he made the comment that one of his kids worked for him and did a great job.  I told him that's because of great parenting and he commented that having a Dad in the house makes all the difference in the world.  Then he told me he was abandoned by his mother but raised by his grandparents who instilled in him a lot of great virtues.  Then he asked me if I was going to vote for Trump and I told him that I was and with no hesitation.  He told me people keep damaging his truck because he had a Trump 2020 bumper sticker and asked me if I wanted a Trump 2020 t-shirt.  I said absolutely.  So he went and got me one and I had to take a picture.  So enjoy fellow Trump cultists and Happy New Year!

Great story!  Btw, what Catholic Church do you attend?  New to living full time at the lake and can't decide between St. John or Guadalupe?

I am just a weekender but my house is in Sandy Creek.  Usually we attend St. Vincent DePaul in Tallassee.  It's a longer drive than St. John in Alex City but we love the priest down there.  St. John's is a nice parish but I am not a fan of their Sunday morning music and their priests seem to come from India and I find them hard to understand at time.  Fr. Matt at St. VdeP is Polish but is a wonderful priest, excellent homilies and the music is marginally better.  Their Sunday mass is at 8:00 so we need to leave the house at 0720 to get there on time.  And you need to be there on time as its a really small Church.  Wetumpka is too far for us.

Funny thing is he told me he gets a lot of grief from other blacks for supporting Trump.  I told him they consider him a traitor to his race for actually thinking on his own.  He said his mother tells him that but he responds to her that she didn't raise him so her opinion doesn't count for much.  Kind of sad comment on the status of the family but thank God for his parents.  I did have a dose of envy for his truck.  A new Ford King cab that looked loaded.  Makes my 10-year old Tundra look kind of cheesy.  But it is paid for and runs great so no complaints!

I think that there are a lot of Black people that do support Trump.  It's mostly the people (of all colors) who are thinking about handouts and what other freebies they might get, who don't like Trump, because he is on to them and wants to cut their freebies.

I suspect that there are a lot of blacks and others that appreciate a strong economy and a strong defense.  Opportunities abound for those that want to get ahead.

Thanks MM.  actually looks like St. Vincent's is no further for me than Johns or Wetumpka.  I usually don't criticize priests, but understanding the priest is obviously high on my list too.  Wetumpka has no kneelers which is so strange to me.

so I plan to go Sunday at 8.  I never thought about tallassee. I am on lake with eclectic address so the drive down 229 is a common drive (tires, dog grooming)

thanks again.

You'll really like Fr. Matt.  Super nice guy and very holy.  Also gives good homilies.  Like I said, the music is not the greatest but at least they don't sing every prayer like at St. John.  Just not my style and adds unnecessary time to the mass without adding much of value.

Your leader has moved the economy to a place that hasn't happened in over fifty years, generated record low unemployment, and cleaned up other messes that Obama made during his eight years in office, and has done all that during his three years in office. I guess one thing that Obama did which is not uncommon when leaving the White House is amassing wealth in the millions of dollars, including owning an $8.1 million house and a $15 million house, and net worth of $30 million. Not bad for someone who was a "community organizer" when he entered the White House. What has Democrats done over the last three years? Nothing that I am aware of!!!!!!!!!

Weakest.  Has nothing whatsoever to do with the thread, which is about Catholic churches within driving distance of Lake Martin, AL.  But we have come to expect that from you, and you continue to deliver the cheap shots.

Does that excuse JD's cheap shots?  At least MM's post reflected a personally observed experience.

Are you suggesting that you have never taken a cheap shot? Can you name anyone who has not taken a cheap shot on Off-Topic? Sadly, we have ALL  emulated Trump with all his cheap shots. The basic fabric of our country has changed under Trump as he is such a bad model for our youth.

So name a few of your examples of perfect leaders for youth.  Like: deBlasio, PEE-losi, o-BAMMIE, Biden-CROOK...........could name thousands more....but you ain’t worth tha time!

Goofy, Goofy, Goofy.  It is not about me, and it is not about Trump.  It is about JD and THREE successive cheap shots.  If I wanted to play your game I would say the black gentleman's comment that his truck had been damaged because he had a Trump 2020 sticker on it is a direct result of Maxinwe Waters' vitriol and irresponsible direct urging for citizens to do harm to those who simply choose to think differntly and exercise their First Amendment rights.

Are you really so single-focused as to think EVERYTHING is because of Trump?  if so then give him credit for the following, excerpted from his letter to Federal Employees:  "Our Country has never been stronger. Almost 160 million great Americans are working-more than ever before-the unemployment rate is at a 50-year low, and wages are up substantially for the first time in decades. Our economy is thriving and the Stock Market has set more than 130 record highs over the last 3 years. As a result, your Thrift Savings Plans are reaching extraordinary levels!"

And I also disagree with you that ALL of the posters have engaged in cheap shots.  I guess if they post disagreement with your uber-liberal left wing positions, then in your mind it is a cheap shot, no matter how well grounded in fact, logic, and/or reason.
