are all excited because John Bolton says he would testify if called to the Senate impeachement trial to do so.  Apparently they have completely forgotten that Bolton is about as Hawkish as them come - so why would he testify and skewer Trump?  I suspect he wants to keep his conservative cred and continue to work.  The only thing I could see him doing is skewering Rudy for acting like an ass.  He didn't part from Trump in a congenial manner, but I don't think he is going to screw Trump either.

All he has to do is tell the truth. Rather simple approach to testifying.

Funny I have been reading news reports that Trump killed salami to pay off Bolton as a favor.

Hound - I have seen many reports that the killing of Salami was put on the list of possibilities to make some of the other ones seem "sane" or "more reasonable"

If the military did not think it was a real option, why in the hell would they put it on the list of options as something so unreasonable as to make others seem reasonable?  That sounds like total damn BS to me ( which I assume it is)

It's normal to give a range of options - along with the pros and cons of each option and a final recommendation for the President's consideration.  From what I understand, there was no dissention among the cabinet members that the right action was to take him out.  The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs has not indicated in any way that he didn't think this was the right choice and his office would have been the one coming up with the range of options.  I suspect they knew that if they put that as an option, there was a good chance that he would pick that choice.  What we don't have access to is the intelligence  - and even if some level of it is declassified, we will not see the whole picture, because they will not want to reveal means and sources.  Many people don't know that in addition to Defense having intelligence agencies, the State Department also has intelligence, there is the CIA.  Democrats are trying to act like this was some kind of wild ass decision on the part of Trump, but the truth is, there was no diplomatic solution to this problem.  It's not like this guy came out of no where - no doubt they have been tracking him, his activities and those of his associates for a long time.

Someone is going to be in trouble for slipping that draft letter about the military leaving Iraq, outside of channels.  No doubt they were circulating that document for comments and someone either made a big mistake or got cute.  It would have been marked classified and draft.

Heard someone this morning describing Democrats having Bolton testify as grabbing the wrong end of the knife.  His opening statement will be a litany of everything he sees wrong with U.S. foreign policy vis-a-vis Iran and will include quite a few hand greandes regarding Ukraine corruption.  They literally have no idea what they are doing and this is just another in a litany of mistakes and missteps by the Democrats.  And I am quite sure Bolton will tell the truth but Goofy won't like it.

You are right.  Once you open that can, you might not be able to contain the contents.  Bolton is a strong Hawk - he will make mincement out of the Democrats as far as their weak, apologetic foreign policy.  I've never especially liked Bolton because he is so hawkish, but he's not one to keep his views under a bushel basket.  He's an odd kind of political player.
