Saw a short piece in my Georgia Golf Magazine that the people that run RTJ are taking over golf at Stillwaters.  Will be interesting to see what they can do to improve the course.  The current management did a great job improving the course but for the money it paled in comparison to Grand National and with a Trail Card it was actually more expensive to play.

Bobby Jones Golf was contracted by owner Keith Hyeight to manage the restaurant & golf course-(I have not heard that they manage RTJ)-they have a great track record--already revamped menus , cleaned out around ponds on golf course--input to golf course improvements  was provided by approx 30 "dog-fighter" members who play 4-5 days weekly and are major source of golf revenue; I feel confident improvements will be made, especially to sand traps and approaches to greens & tee boxes-just takes time & $$$$$--alternative is pay $40k to join Willow Point , or risk your life on hwy 50 driving to Aub; Of course, it would help tremendously   if more STILLWATERS residents would buy a membership & support the club

Don't know for sure but the article I read said they were the same group that operated RTJ.  May not be correct.

And by the way, I assume your use of the term "sand traps" is in reference to the mudholes surrounding many of the greens.  My wife and I have a standing rule that if you ended up in a greenside bunker you get a free drop behind them in the grass, if you can find some.  Otherwise the people that operated it before made a lot of improvements but were hampered by the lack of funding.  I would love to see them cut down the tree in the fairway on number 9 and do something to make 17 and 18 playable.  I detest both of those holes.  On 17 you have to hit a nearly perfect tee shot to get down in the flat before the creek.  On 18 it's the same and there is very little room for error.  Too short and its a blind shot to the green and too long you're down the hill which feeds into the woods.  My wife hits her drive so far that she's just given up and puts it into the valley and hopes it doesn't trickle into the woods.  Anything short and she can't reach the green on her second shot.  Both of those holes regularly ruin a decent round for us and is one of the reasons we make the drive to Grand National.

A lack of competition for sure.  I had considered joining if I retire to the lake but its a long drive from Sandy Creek.

Hope they can figure it out. I can play RTJ for about $50 with cart. Nice track and very good food and bev. I would love to play Stillwater's if they can put forth a resonable product. Sand traps are an issue.

And contrary to the article in the Georgia Golf Magazine they don't manage RTJ....my mistake.

Yep, you're right.  The article in GA Golf got that wrong for obvious reasons.

Sounds like a good company.  I'm afraid no matter how many improvements they will never have the volumn to sustain it.
