Jones voting for conviction.  I assume his internals were not favorable and he sold out the state of Alabama.  I am not a resident of the Great state of Alabama, but I hope y'all follow through and send this guy packing to some other Dem gig he is campaigning for.

That was my initial reaction.  He knows he is toast in 2020 and wanted to stick it to the citizens of Alabama on his way out.  Now he can sanctimoniously claim he lost because he followed his "conscience" in voting to convict instead of the reality that the only reason he won in the first place was Roy Moore and the conveniently timed allegations.  He was never a fit for the majority of Alabama voters and as soon as there was a viable candidate he was going to lose.  This just gives him some shade.

I am betting he was sitting with his staff asking around the room who thought he could win in November.  When no hands shot up he said screw it, I'm going down in a blaze of glory and maintain my good standing with the Democrat party.  What he doesn't understand is that they will eject him for losing because power is all that matters.

Pitiful is the one word to describe him.  We can thank Gov. Ivey for calling a special election knowing Roy Moore would run.

In her defense, it was up to the primary voters to pick the candidate.  The state party should have done a better job anticipating that these issues would be raised in the general election because I suspect had they been front and center during the primary he might not have gotten the nod.

She had the option to appoint until the next election.  She (or whoever is the wizard behind the curtain) made a decision to appoint and call a special election.  This Governor is bad news, mark my words.  You will see soon.  How you like that gas tax, lol.

I hear ya and don't disagree. As for the gas tax, I still live full time in Georgia and gladly fill up at Exit 79 to save 15 cents a gallon.

I am a resident of the state of Alabama, and I think Doug Jones is about as likely to win re-election as I am to win gold ski-jumping at the next Olympics.  He may have voted his conscience, but there are many Republicans running who aren't Roy Moore.
