35 million years ago, a meteorite (or comet, or “bolide”) struck in the area we now call the southern Chesapeake Bay. It created a crater (only) 26 miles wide.   At that time the coastline of the Atlantic seaboard was WEST of Richmond, Virginia. There were tropical rain forests in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. And, there were NO glaciers.

The CO2 concentration has been dropping since then.   There has been NO demonstrated causality that CO2 fuels a rise (or fall) in temperature. In fact, it appears to be the opposite of that!

Approximately 23K years ago, hunter/fishermen followed the southernmost edge of the ice during the last glacial maximum. It is theorized that THEY… the Solutreans… colonized Virginia. At that time, the Atlantic cost was 50+ miles east of present day Virginia Beach, VA.

At that time CO2 concentrations were approximately 190 ppm. And, warming during the Younger Dryas (out of the last ice age; 20K to 10K years ago) PRECEEDED a rise in CO2 concentration.

Did Solutrean campfires cause the increase in temperature?

Trump is surely NOT a scientist. But, he is right to prohibit global warming alarmism from degrading our national energy system, national productivity, and quality of life. The real problem with the U.S. leaving the Paris accord is that “the one who was supposed to pay for the lavish meal… has left the restaurant.” [Neil Cavuto]

I STILL DO NOT HAVE ANY TAKERS ON DEBATING ME ABOUT CO2 AND GLOBAL WARMING! Come on AGWs! Bring your hypotheses, your 100+ disagreeing computer models… and most importantly, your RAW data. (Note: they seem to have lost their raw data decades ago.)

Could it be because I was a Licensed Professional Geologist, Certified Environmental Specialist, degreed geologist (BS) and geophysicist(MS), and meteorologist (93E20)?

I had to read the Bloomberg article and what abject nonsense.  Especially the part about the model accuracy.  I've seen the entire range of models and it is blatantly obvious they way overstated warming.  But this so-called study cherry picked 17 of them and said 14 of the 17 were reasonably accurate.  Those were the models that we were told were wrong.  And now they come out with models showing more warming than ever before?!?!?!?  So incredibly stupid.

Your credentials are impressive and thanks for letting us know. However, can you explain in simple to understand language why the temperature described in this article is so high? I realize you can go back billions and billions of years but keep it simple....

Because it's National Public Radio

Funny isn't it, when it's super cold we are lectured that we don't know the difference between the weather and the climate.  But when we have a heat wave it's the end of the world.  It's just silly to write a headline that 65 degF was a record high.  We haven't even been measuring temperatures in Antartica for all that long.  And if you look at the longer record from ice cores we are actually several degC below long term temperatures.  As for ice cores, take them with a grain of salt other than maybe providing longer term trends.  Regardless, current temperatures are lower than historical trends.
