According to a Johns Hopkins Study symptoms from COVID-19 show up in about 5 days from exposure.  This is very helpful given the prior guidance was much longer (as much as 28 days but generally accepted to be around 14).  Will reduce the length of time people need to be quarantined if exposure is suspected.  Also looks like the number of cases are leveling out in China (assuming you believe what they are saying....which as a rule I usually don't).  And finally, the mortality rate appears to be dropping I believe primarily because the number of reported cases is up due to more testing for this particular strand.  Would not surprise me in the least if by the end of the flu season we see the mortality rate for COVID-19 to be comparable to the flu for children and healthy adults and a little higher for seasoned citizens with other health issues.

From what I have read, they believe that there are two strains of the virus - one much milder than the other.  I think that they said that the milder one morphed from the original.  I think you will continue to see far fewer deaths from the virus than from the flu.  The people most at risk are those with suppressed immunine systems -which is why you see deaths from nursing home.

mis-information.  I am sure it is unintenional but dangerous never the less.  The only reason we will continue to have, hopefully, ''far fewer deaths'' from this than from the flu is because the number with this virus so far world wide is still miniscule compared with the flu!  The flu infects hundreds of millions ever year and kills about 1 in every 2000.  This thing has so far infected 140,000 but has killed about 3400...about 50 in every 2000!! Currently this is 50 times as deadly as the Flu to those effected! If this thing ever spreads as extensively as the flu but kills at its present rate the world will see tens of millions of deaths!!  That spread is exactly what the medical and scientific resources of the entire world is trying to stop!!  Belittling their efforts and pretending it is not a big deal does a disservice to the human race!
