Read an interesting article yesterday about the national stockpile.  We didn't have one until after 9/11.  Then it was put in place to help deal with a singular terrorist attack that would affect hundreds, not thousands.  So Trump is correct when he claims he inherited a broken system.  We were behind the curve right from the gitgo.  And some of the equipment that was there was old and didn't work.  (We saw the same thing in Europe when we drew down the stocks for the war we never had.  A lot of it was in bad condition, outdated and no longer worked).  One reporter asked Trump what he had been doing for the last 3 years to fix the problem.  The answeer to that is fending off attacks from Democrats to defeat his Presidency and fulfilling campaign promises.

The daily briefing yesterday seemed to indicate that they are concerned that a lot of hospital supplies come in the front door and going out the back door, in unprecedented quanitities particularly in NYC.  This should be surprising to no one.  There are always profiteers in any crisis.

The truth is no one had done anything about the national stockpile - not since GWB's administration when it would have been put in place. It doesn't matter because we are where we are.  There are supply chain problems, as well as companies having to ramp up production which takes time.  We're now seeing the surge capacity.

Speaking of which, I saw that we are running out of storage space for oil, gasoline and diesel.  DJT did something really smart and is buying like crazy to fill the national reserves.  Will save billions on cost and will give us adequate supplies in case of a national shortage.

Yes I heard that too.  But he won't get any credit for that either.

Also read where san fran nan put into the latest bill that the stockpile could not be filled because she did not want to bail out the oil companies.

Trump wanted to buy cheap, Nan said nope no money regardless of the savings.

Go figure - idiots playing politics.

So much stupid happened/versions -  I am not sure which parts passed or was dropped for being on the demonrat wish list / presidential restriction list.

Just know that she attempting to cut the purse strings to fill itup at probably the lowest price in a long damn time and once the economy gets its feet back under it prices are going to go right back up -  most people will have used vacation days etc to keep a paycheck so will not be those summer demand months for long travel, its going to be back to the daily grind.

They store crude oil that would need to be transported to a refiney to become gasoline.

Right.  And the current price of crude is around $20 per barrel which is the lowest since 1998 and the only time it was lower was in 1947.  And if you adjust the current price to 1998 or 1947 dollars it is the lowest since it was recorded.  In short, it is the perfect time to top off the National Strategic Reserve which is currently around 630 million barrels.  The Reserve has a capacity of around 800 million barrels which is probably close to 2 months of supply assuming no other sources are available.

Where did I post that they would be storing gas?  All I said was that with summer months approacing there would be less demand due to lack of travel ( which means less demand on gas, thus less demand on the crude oil leading to less demand and excesses in oil inventory.

You seem not to be able to follow, this is pretty simple stuff here.

There is no money in the stimulus to buy the oil. The Energy Department would use their funds. Looks like a good deal to me.

I agree and it's a shame we only have 150 million barrel shortfall.  Wish we could buy more if they could find somewhere to store it.
