Can't understand why elected officials play silly games with campaign funds.

"Pattie Stockman, wife of former Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas), asked President Trump to pardon him amid the coronavirus pandemic so his 10-year sentence for fraud and other white-collar crimes  “does not become a death penalty.”    

Stockman, a conservative firebrand, was convicted in April 2018 of 23 felonies for allegedly misusing $1.25 million in campaign funds for personal expenses. The 63-year-old is serving his sentence in a federal prison in Beaumont, Texas. 

“My pleas are reasonable. Keeping an aging, physically vulnerable, non-violent, non-sex crime convicted inmate in prison during a pandemic is cruel. My husband is not a danger to society. At a minimum, I want Steve to shelter at home so that he’s not sent to me in a body bag in a few weeks,” Patti Stockman said.

Patti Stockman is not seeking a temporary release of prisoners, but a pardon for her husband specifically."

I suspect Ms. Pattie beniffited from some of those purloined "campaign funds."  I think he should stay right where he is.  Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time!

Really???  You can't understand this?  Money, power, sex.......that is what DC is all about.  Power corrupts....absolute power corrupts absolutely.  This is why I believe in limited govt.  If we didn't give them so much money and power it wouldn't attract such easily corruptible people.

Same with Duncan Hunter(R CA). His wife turned against him and also pleaded guilty.

"SAN DIEGO  — The wife of U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter(R-CA) pleaded guilty Thursday to a single corruption count and agreed to testify against her husband at his trial on charges the couple spent more than $200,000 in campaign funds on trips, dinners, clothes and other personal expenses."

Everyone who runs is going to DC to clean it up. Make it work....they all lie and that is Democracy. Term limits rather than limited gov't may be a better solution. With Covid 19, you may well see a push for bigger government.

I find it odd that the Right supports $600 per week unemployment supplement which is $15 per hour. Yet, they will not raise the minimum from $7.50.

Obviously nothing.  But if there weren't so much money and power allotted to the Federal govt maybe we would get back to citizen legislators and it wouldn't be as attractive to scumbags.  They could then go back to old fahsioned white collar crimes like embezzlement, etc.
