Archie,

Mattis never got over Trump's decision to pull out of Syria, which Mattis very publically disagreed with.  Turned out to be the absolutely correct decision that Trump never got credit for.  (See your 12/20 2018 post).  He's a Democrat, probably was a good Marine, but personally I would not trust him as far as I could throw him as far as loyalty is concerned.  He needed some MSM face time and knew he could get it with his comments.  As far as unity is concerned,  what I saw while driving through Fulton County yesterday does not put me in a unifying mood.

Assuming you are responding to my question, it takes a special person to be a Marine and if one hasn't earned the right to call themseves a Marine by completing Marine Basic Training or Officer Candidate School they haven't earned the right to utter Semper Fidelis like Archie did earlier in this thread.  

And, no, I am not a Marine but have a healthy respect for those who have done what it takes to be one.

It is his right, and to himself his duty, to express such a strongly felt opinion.  His doing so doesn't really have a lot to do with his being a Marine, since his SecDef tenure "trumps" his uniformed service.  Seasoned veteran whose uniformed service is to be respected, yes.  Former political appointee who suddenly acts as an expert on the Constitution, I'm not so sure.

evaluation would conclude General Mattis to have a lot more knowledge and awareness of and respect and commitment to the constitution every minute of every day than Donald Trump does or ever will.  Donald Trump is committed to one thing and one thing only...himself.  I really believe that you and every single thoughtful person on this forum knows it as well as I do whether you and they are willing to admit it or not.  Think about it...please.

That, my friend, is utter poppycock.  I won't "admit it" because it isn't true.  And you wouldn't know thorough and unbiased if it slapped you in the face.  No doubt, DJT has a huge ego, but he is results driven and his current quest is to make this country as good as it can be.  I wish I could say the same of his Democrat counterparts but in my opinion they are obsessed with gaining power, good of the country be damned.
