BTW, DEFUND ALL ATL POLITICIANS before you leave.

The lake is FULL.  Thats water and people.  Strange how "lockdowns" have increased the population and traffic all over the area.  Alex City reported record sales tax collection in April.

Actually, considering it is the birth place of the civil rights movement, Montgomery has been pretty chill with only minor peaceful demonstrations.  I don't actually think that this current wave of protests is going to drive people to the lake.  People still have to live and work in the metropolitan areas  At some point, people are going to get tone deaf to the current ravings and they are going to put a stop to it.  If they didn't have so many black mayors, it wouldn't have lasted this long.

If you haven’t noticed we are already living in the Monkeytown (CB label from yrs ago) suburbs.  We have several friends who live full time at the lake and work in da M-hood.  Welcome to da South.  Those “black mayors” are better defined as DIMOKRAPS.  Color is only a defining term...it’s what’s inside that corrupts!

Hound I disagree--just look at exodus to Auburn/Prattville/Millbrook  & if youre a state employee moving to Auburn  you get a state car to commute in--public shools are a disaster & private is unaffordable-- I know 3 montg families looking to move to lake just to put kids in Eclectic schools; still have lots of friends in Montg--say they cant sell homes without HUGE loss; most hear gun shots nightly in their $500,000 + neighborhoods; Cloverdale, Mcgeehee Estates, Huntingdon area residents have hired 24/7 security to patrol the areas

But that exodus started years ago.  Look at how huge Prattville and even Wetumpka is growing.  Yes, there are neighborhoods that used to be nice in Montgomery that are now dangerous - most of them are in proximity to the 'hood.  My BIL had his law office in the Garden District broke into so many times he lost count.  I personally woudn't move to Montgomery because of the crime.  But yep, the schools suck.  But I don't think people will leave B'ham or Atlanta for the lake.  They will leave the inner city for the suburbs.

Disagree.  The suburbs are now the “hood”.  Go take a look at Marietta, GA.  B-hood is now 70% AA.  Go take a look at Hoover and Homewood.....they used to be surburbs!  ATL suburbs stretch halfway down I-85 to the state line already....look at Peachtree City...surburbs!!  They’re a long way from ATL-downtown.

Well, they better start plan on that high speed rail Alabama turned their nose up at.  I'm not an expert on the Atlanta suburbs.  But I think a 3 hour commute each way might be too much to expect anyone to endure on a regular basis.  Maybe they'll move to Auburn.

Oh, I wasn’t saying working people would commute to ATL, or b-hood.  There are tons of retired folks who still stay in the hoods and have lake homes, or would like to move here for a better life.  Until decent schools come to the lake, you won’t see young families here.....don’t hold your breath on the schools getting better.

Yes, I think a lot of people who retire will consider moving to the lake full time.  Attactng young families is why they are planning on building a new HS.  I don't see it, because I think most parents look at the scores for schools, not the building, but I guess they can dream.
