?  I know orange swim bouys are allowed 25 ft from dock if not impeding traffic.  Is that from stationary or floating pier if at end of stationary?  Thanks for knowledge sharing!

I don't think it matters unless between the floating dock and the 25 foot distance the bouy impedes traffic through a narrow area.  I don't think the Marine Police or APCO are very anal about the swim bouys as long as people are being reasonable.

@Rooster, I am pretty sure it is not related to docks at all and is x feet from the shoreline.  I thought I heard 90 feet but could be wrong.

Rooster if they come into the creek looking to harass folks breaking the 25ft rule on swim bouys they will have lots to keep them busy before they ever get close to us.  I told you the other day I would move them further out in line with your neighbors.

We have several set of grandchildren that swim in our slough.  I woud put the swim buoys where you feel comfortable to keep the area safe.  We get people periodically coming down our slough full power, creating waves.  It always makes me nervous, because the kids are having such a great time and not paying attention.  I'm pretty sure the life of kids and even adults, trumps the right of way of boaters or PWCers.

Swim buoys are allowed 25' from the dock if you have one. If you do not have a dock then the buoys can be 25' from your property line. If buoys are further than 25' they will be moved back in once by Marine Patrol. If the buoys are found to be placed back out past 25' they will be removed.

On paper.  But in reality we can ride up any creek and see many violations that have been in place years with no enforcement.  Where Rooster, the original poster, lives he can certainly go a ways without interfering with anyone and protect his Grandkids that swim, paddle board and kayak.

Yes, there are many people who violate this rule. Several buoys this year have already been moved back to within the 25' of the dock. The lake is public and everyone including boats has access to anywhere the water touches. It is illegal to try to section off areas of water unless it is permitted by the Marine Patrol. The buoys are a courtesy that is allowed as long as people follow the 25' guideline.

All talk.  Ride up Manoy Creek and correct EVERYBODY or shut the hell up.  There are some in he main channel that go out at least 50ft, maybe more.  And one of them is not even a big bouy but a SMALL bumper barely visible.

Or take a ride into what was Pitchford Hollow, around from ol Veazy's marina.

Think of 25 feet as less than 10 yards ( a first down).....not very far, and some are half way across the lake.

Don't worry. I'm sure lakewatcher is on it!!

Those folks only seem to find 'violations' in certain areas.  He/she/it/ze/xi whatever pronoun lakewatch idnetifies by, Come on with a passive aggressive threat about a situation it knows NOTHING about.  We are so far back in the creek and then back in a slough we get very little traffic but it seems a fair percentage of them seem to come in hot.  All responsible boaters know or immediatly realize it to tight for anything above idle speed when they enter the area.  Meanwhile out in the mouth of the creek in the main channel their is a boat bumper probably 100ft out in the channell.

So my advice to Lakewatcher2012 is to make sure YOUR house is in order before coming on here to preach to others about the rules and brag about how well you enforce them.  In the meantime I encourage Rooster to move his further out to allow his grandkids to enjoy the water as safely as possible.  Rooster does a good job of waving and hollering to slow folks down if they come in hot.  If they are still plowing water by the time they get to me I don't play as nice.
