Subject:   Wuhan cases up while deaths continue down

Interesting development on the Wuhan virus front where we have seen a big spike in new cases while the deaths continue to slowly decline.  I suspect it is because the majority of new cases are in people under the age of 35 who seem much less susceptible to dying than with the ordinary flu.  So that is the good news and let's hope it continues as we begin to understand the actual mortality rate for the Wuhn ChiCom Chinese virus.

I also find it interesting the pretzels the left are twisting themselves into to avoid the obvious conclusion that the protests were partially if not mostly responsible for the uptick in new cases.  We will never know for sure because I have not seen any data where those newly infected were asked if they participated in or were exposed to those that participated in the protests.......convenient, eh?  As is typical with their fairy tale, wishful thinking, having people sitting in bars or sunbathing is akin to murder but packing tens of thousands together in protests are magically immune to the virus.  Logic and common sense tells us that the protests had an impact and many Governors and Mayors have concluded the relationship, including in California.  Here are the primary reasons I believe they are mostly responsible for the spike:

  1. Correlation with the protests - As we can see with the data, within 2 weeks of the protests in pretty much every major city we saw a spike.  Granted, correlation is not causation but there is more.
  2. Lack of correlation with the reopening - From the time the states began to reopen until the spike there was a steady decline in new cases.  This trend continued for almost 6 weeks.  Given the 14-day incubation period it would seem that we should have seen an increase but none happened until around 2 weeks after the protests began.
  3. Age of newly infected - A significant majority of the new cases were in those under age 35 which happens to be the age group of most of those that participated in the protests.  Of course this also the age group likely to be less inclined to practice social distaning, personal hygiene, etc.
  4. Most of the new cases are in urban areas which is where the majority of the protests occurred and were the largest.  Granted, these urban areas would also logically also be where more people would come into contact with infected people in bars and restaurants, hence why I said the protests were not the only cause.  But I believe logically and applying common sense that the protest were a major contributor.

But for some reason the left is adamant that the protests not only didn't contribute to the spike in cases but using their twisted and bizarre logic actually reduced them because people stayed home.  That is logically impossible.  If they stayed home there would be no spike in cases but apparently they simultaneously went to the bars, restaurants and the beach which resulted in a spike of viruses.  Sorry, but logic and common sense tell us that they can't have it both ways.  Sorry for being so proliferative and for bloviating.

From the John Hopkins website.  No doubt we are seeing record numbers of tests being performed but there doesn't appear to be a strong correlation between the number of tests and the number of postive results.  But for sure testing is way up.

Facts are a dangerous thing!  This is good.  Deaths are ways down

Yep....left wing nuts heads are exploding right now.  Just read an article by an internationally recoginized Swiss immunologist that pretty much skewered everything that we did as wrong......doubt he is eminent enough for the chicken littles that want to be scared.  He actually believes based on the RNA of the Wuhan virus that it isn't novel, that there is widespread immunity as it is closely related to other coronaviruses and that the focus should have been on the elderly and other susceptible populations rather than these widespread closures.  He also said we should never have counted positive anti-body tests as a postive for the Wuhan virus.  His views make me think that the current spike is actually a positive development as it is disproportionately impacting younger, healthier people.
