I think the fundamental problem is that people do not understand how a virus works and people with other things motivating them are taking advantage of that ignorance.  New Zealand is indeed in a pickle because they only have two choices: 1) accept the reality that the virus is going to hit them when they reopen the country; or 2) continue to stay closed until a vaccine is discovered.  The former is politically untenable and the latter is monumentally risky and will come at a tremendous cost.....and may not work if a vaccine isn't discovered.  A huge roll of the dice for them and they are in a box of their own making.

On the other side of the coin is NY and NJ who got where they are at immense and unnecessary lost lives and cost to their economy.  They weren't smart...they were grossly incompetent and did almost everything wrong.  In a sane world with a real media that truth would be front and center.  But the govt media complex has chosen sides....the side of the incompetent and stupid anti-science party.
