of course I don't thik he was really welcomed at GHW Bush's funeral either but he went anyway.  Thank God the Marine usher was there to act as his coat rack and gofer boy.

They didn't like each other - Lewis was an outspoken critic of Trump, so maybe he doesn't want to be a hypocrit.  I didn't see very may white people at his sevice in the Capitol today.  The sad fact is that while he worked for civil rights, he didn't sponor or author any major legislation that I can find.  Looks like he got a lot of awards over the year for being beaten up in his 20s.

"“I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” Lewis said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” a week before Trump was sworn into office. “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected and they have destroyed the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”

If I were in Trump's shoes, and this was said about me and knowing that it was demonstrably false, I would make the same decision.  But, I guess others would just prefer to kneel down and beg for forgiveness for their "white privelege."

If Turmp went they would accuse him of pandering to blacks and if he stays away they accuse him of insulting blacks.  Frankly, given the lies John Lewis told about Trump I can't say that I blame him.  But if that is all it takes for blacks to not vote for him then shame on them.  He's done more for the black community in 3 plus years than Obama did in 8.  You can't fix that kind of decision making.
