This is to help those posters unable to  link an article. When posting a new message or replying to an existing one, at the top of the page you will see a "LINK". Open it and you will see a page to INSERT LINK. Just paste the URL in the space and hit OK.

This will work equally well for both Left and Right posts.

Once again dumbass, I can't cut and paste to anything on this site.  If my sources mean that much to you then ask Bruce to fix it.

Lifer, Fishy is correct.  All you need to do is copy the URL you want to link to and follow those steps.  Or you can simply copy the link and hit Ctrl-V in your post and it will do the same thing.  It's really not that hard (See below)

NO it will NOT.  I can NOT cut nor paste to this box.  I know about the link option, but have not been able to paste into it either.  I can drop pic files into the box below.

AND BTW- Iv'e been cutting and pasting since about 1982.  I think I got a handle on how it works.

Move your cursor to the beginning of the URL you want to add with your mouse.  Left click (depress the left upper button on your mouse) keep it depressed and move the mouse accross the URL you want to add until it is completely highlighted.  Once highlighted, cease the "left click" and depress the upper right button button on your mouse ("right click") and click on "copy" (not "cut") on the drop down menu.  Then when you either create a new post or reply to an existing post hit the "Ctrl" and "V" keys simultaneously and you should be good to go.  Good luck.

Please stop condescending to me about how to do something I've had well in hand for nearly 40 years,

I was not trying to be condescending at all since I don't know what step in the process you weren't able to comprehend, even with your 40+ years of computer experience.  Anyway, it's all good as we all can benefit from reading the vast number of articles you are now going to share with the Off-Topic" community.  Stay safe.

Ive been comprehending Cut and Paste all my adult life.  Something technical prevents me from being able to paste IN THIS BOX and the smaller URL box.

WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT COMPREHEND!?

I cut and paste EVERYDAY, just CANT here.

If you do it the way Fishy suggests, selecting "cut" should work.  Or the "copy" function should also enable you to paste it directly in your comment screen (without going through the extra steps).  Once you highlight the URL try using Ctrl+C to copy it than use Ctrl+V to insert it in the comment box, see if that works.  Or you could simply go "old school" and write it down on a piece of paper and type it in the box along with the rest of your message.

Your quandary has my curiosity aroused.  What hardware, operating system, and web browser are you using?

I don't either, Mr. H, I'm just trying to be helpful. I thought of the web browser being an issue, as  I think some versions of Firefox or Safari, for example, do not have the copy-cut-paste drop-down option.  However, it is my understanding that the Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X,Ctrl+V method should still function on all web browsers.  Also, disabling javascript has been known to fix this problem on some browsers, I believe.  What I find baffling, however, is how Lifer can cut, copy and paste everywhere else except to this web site, but everyone else seems to be able to do it without any problems.  That defies logic.

No dogs here either.  But I will say this.  In the past I have made some totally awesome posts to Facebook and thought "hey i need to put that on the forum".  So I will copy and come here and right click to paste

It gives the table pictured below.

A CTRL V, however, will produce the data

CDC and Bill Gates are saying "Get kids back in school". Why am I suspicious of that?

Now to post a link, i place cursor on url line, click left to highlight it, right click copy, and come here.  The right click gives same pic as below but the CTRL V will work

This machine is Lenovo with windows 10.  When I got it last year I decided to give Windows Edge Browser a try.  I have ignored a few updates that weren't security related becuase one I did changed things quite a bit and I was just getting used to the old look and feel. It has plagued me across several platform/browser combos through the years though.  That is why I have reached out to Bruce a couple of times, most recently after buying this machine and having the same issue I had on old equipment.

I am going to test drive a couple of other browsers of the next days/weeks and will try the CTRL V option in them becuase I can't remember the last time I tried that in them.  I would just right click and get the screwy table array and shrug and move on.

Lifer, you may find the attached link to be helpful.  Having said that, I promise not to pester you anymore

I used FireFox most of the time.  At times I got the Link box option to work but still couldn't paste into it.  Sometimes it didn't open at all.  I will also allow all updates on the browser and try the CRTL V option through my test drives of other browsers.  I hate Google and try to stay as far away as possible from them and their products.  But that aint very far at all for anybody.

I get the same that table menu on right click that Lakengulf posted, ctrl c and ctrl v hvae always worked for me.

In the insert/edit link I do not get the table menu but the normal cut/copy/paste window I get elsewhere.

The times I've gotten that link to open I would just get no reaction when right clicking.
