Heh.....you can always count on Democrats to accuse the GOP of doing exactly what they are doing.  According to documents leaked to aBS we now know that the Steele Dossier was a Russian intelligence disinformation document......and the Clinton campaign paid for it and the head of the FBI and others fell for it hook, line and sinker.  As did the gov't media.......they were all dupes colluding with the Russians to disrupt our election, the transition and the Trump presidency.  Useful idiots or willing co-conspirators is the real question.......or maybe both.  If I had to choose one I would go with the latter given their raging TDS.

No wonder they are all writing books and cashing in as they may very well need the money for legal fees.  But of course if you are a low information voter you probably didn't hear this news did you?  Or maybe you don't really care because like some of you, if a few people die from the ChiCom virus or the Democrats collude with Russian intelligence it's A-OK as long as it feeds your TDS.

We tod you all from the beginning this was a hoax but you didn't believe us.  We told you there was significant corruption with the Hillary campaign but you refused to listen.  We told you that Comey, Brenner, Strozck, McCabe and others were mutinous traitors and you scoffed.  TDS is a terrible way to lose your ability to think critically.

The fact that basically everyone in the FBI purchased liability insurance over the investigation is very telling that the bastards knew that what they were doing was illegal, immoral, unethical etc.  Comey, Strozk, Mueller and Rosenstein should get life behind bars.

"We all went and purchased professional liability insurance," one analyst texted on Jan. 10, 2017, just 10 days before Trump took office.

"Holy crap," a colleague responded. "All the analysts too?"

"Yep," the first analyst said. "All the folks at the Agency as well."

"Can I ask who are the most likely litigators?" a colleague responded. "As far as potentially suing y'all."

"Haha, who knows….I think the concern when we got it was that there was a big leak at DOJ and the NYT among others was going to do a piece," the original analyst texted back.

Yeah I saw that as well.  Absolutely stunning......here you had a bunch of minions being told to do all this shady and likely illegal stuff by their superiors and they were so worried they bought liability insurance.  Sounds like it was rampant.

So worried they went and purchased insurance - but did not whistleblow or anything post election when someone could have protected them properly from the top - also shows the bias and that they were worried enough to protect themselves personally and  financially but did not give a rats ass about the institution or anything else.

It is getting closer and closer to the point where I say the soul of the country can no longer be saved and another revolution may be necessary to restore honesty in our systems.

Lots of things about DJT I do not like - but one thing I can not fault him for at all is his ability to have bad people remove their masks and for them to state loudly who they are and what they did - till they realize the camera is running and then go attack the person with the camera.

I'm a little surprised that they didn't have personal liability insurance before that.  Let me say this about why no one likely was a whistle blower.  It's a career ending move.  You will likely keep your job, but you will be labeled and people won't forget.  Keep in mind that these are working people and while it may seem noble to stand up, most people have families, mortgages and years invested in their careers.  Now no doubt, the usual suspects will rip into me for saying it, but sometimes the best you can do is protect yourself, because anyone can sue you for anything.  Everyone in my organization had PLI (which is not paid for by the government).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Federal employees were exempt from liability for doing their job unless the government approves the lawsuit.  Or does that protection apply only to the government itself?

Aside from that I am surprised to hear you say that.  My wife worked for EPA for 9 years and none of them had personal liability insurance.  Is that common for Fed employees or only in certain roles?

Yes and no.  If you are doing your job, then the government will represent you in any law suit that pertains to your official duties,  but it doesn't protect you from a civil lawsuit which can tie up you assets for years.  The reason i and the people that worked with had it was because we were making decisions that could affect millions of contractual dollars by industry.  I had a guy threaten to sue me, when I returned his license application without action, because he did not provide sufficiently detailed information for us to make a determination.  (in the end, he didn't).

Of course, it is your individual choice since you have to pay for it yourself.  Our agency lawyer recommended it, and no, he wasn't selling the insurance.

You just answered my question.  What, did you make it out of 8th grade?

Interesting.  I did not know that.  How common was it and generally how much does it cost?  In our business our E&O insurance premium is based on the amount of our revenue.

it wasn't overly expensive.  I seem to recall about $150 a year back then.

The big issue we have with E&O is that even if they agree to pay defense costs they always reserve the right to not pay a claim.  Lot's of exclusions, etc.  And our self-insured retention (i.e., deductible) is $25K per claim.  Whether it was worth $150 per year would depend on the limitations, endorsements, exclusions and SIR.  Still, it seems pretty reasonable and am surprised most govt employees don't have it.
