There was no debate tonight. Anyone wanting to see EITHER candidate's position on the issues and/or plans for the future ended up empty-handed.  Sorely disappointed.

IMO, politics follows the culture, not the other way around.

Whatever debate that did happen it was 2 against 1.  Chris Wallace had multiple Candy Crowley moments and continuously threw lifelines to Biden when he was struggling.  And he acted like he was interviewing Trump but allowed Biden to drone on.  Regardless of the nature of the event the biggest loser was the so-called moderator.  And sadly, he is probably the best we will get in these debates.

My view is that Trump saw what Biden did to Paul Ryan who was there to debate and was instead attacked mercilessly and looked weak and unprepared.  Trump was not going to let that happen.

Interestingly, post-debate polls of Hispanics on Telemundo had Trump winning the non-debate debate by a 66/34 ratio. CSPAN had Trump winning 53/29.

As painful as it was, I did watch.  I thought that Chris Wallace preference in the candidates was on display - clearly he is a Biden supporter and I actually thought he was weak and ineffectual dealing with the President.  I thought Biden was wrong to tell the President to "shut up" and calling him a "clown".  Well, Joe should know a clown when he sees one - he looks in the mirror every morning.

Someone had clearly told Joe Biden to talk to the camera but he speakth with forked tongue, saying that he IS the Democratic Party and the other saying that he doesn't support the Green Bill, when in fact he says on his webstie that he does.  And the Green Bill covers far more than carbon footprint.  I thought he looked like an old old man, and it would be good if he got his teeth redone.  I thought the fact he kept looking down made a case for him having a wire.  He keeps talking about his "plans" but he never elaborates on what they are.  And I thought Trump really got him on the idea that he should have called the Democrat governors with regard to the riots.  Saying that he didn't have an official office was weak.

As far as Trump, he looked far healthier, but he suffers from poor impulse control.  He needs to look in the camera and make his case to the American public.  He needs to make his case on what he has accomplished and what he wants to accomplish.  I'm sure the side insults to Joe Biden while satisfying, I'm sure, do not make his case.  And the way he side-stepped his chance to denounce white supremists, was not a good moment for him.

Whether politics follows culture or culture follows politics, it was a horribly uncivil debate and a new low in american politics.

Now that Trump has tested positive for COVID, who knows whether there will be any further debates.
