Woody Wins!!

This is a very good thing for this area I believe.  Of course he could be a huge dissapointment, only time will tell.  I do believe he will be much more transparent.

It's a step away from the "old boy" network of former Russell Hospital executives.  Hopefully, he will ask the hard questions and demand transparency.  He'll be saddled with some of the bad decisions that they already made.  Alex City is the only place I know that gives the employees 5% raises and then have no money for essential services.  I'm not saying that the employees don't deserve a raise, but they could have given incremental raises.  I think the biggest mistake was buying and then rehabbing and rehabbing the old Russell headquarters building.  And now they are talking about rehabbing the old Town Hall anyway for another purpose.  They all loved Nabors, but the truth is that he put the city into more debt than was reasonable.

Yep.  When they passed the Taj Mahal Plan the story was the old building wasn't worth saving.  WAAAY to expensive we heard.  I bet there is some drawn up buttholes this morning worrying about having to pay for past decisions.

As for employee pay and benifits their story is we MUST pay the government employees better to attract better people and industry is laughable.  Bring the industry and jobs and the government may have a case.  This town is STAGNANT, and wants to be something it is never, IMO, going to be.  They are looking for a north GA feel, Ellijay, Blue Ridge etc.  What they don't seem to realize is that those places thrive becuase of the cluster them.  There is no cluster of artsy fartsy little tourist towns here.

At least now Woody Will find out what the "something big" that is always on the horizen actually is.

And hopefully he'll let us know what it is - if it exists at all.  I've never understood the secrecy.

Early planning in big business sometimes requres a certain amount of secrecy to protect all interest. but Alex City never has anything big announced, except big new RL subdivisions.  The only thing "big" is including a hotel, that will be overpriced and under booked I would bet.

I barely know Woody and what little I know is form a few trips in his store to buy things.  I know others that know him much better that all have high opinoins of him.  I hope he lives up to expectations.
