As it turns out, no surprise to me, there appears to be a huge discrepency between unemployment numbers in red, blue and purple states.  This is based on the most recent data from August.  Average unemployment rates in states that voted for the Republican in the last 4 elections is 6.6%.  9 of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rate are run by GOP governors.  9 of the 10 states with the highest unemployment rates are run by Democrats.  Even purple states run by a GOP governor are doing better than those that are run by a Dem.  So the recovery has been wildly uneven but the take away from all this is that it's better to be in a red or purple state with a GOP governor......way better.  What a shocker.......not.

That's one way to slice it and looking at it that way, I'm sure the red states are doing better.  But there are so many other factors to consider, like the average education level, the kinds of jobs, and I think even the normal income level. If you work at a low paying job, you are not as likely to be anxious to go back to work, or as anxious to seek out work as you would be if you were in a higher paying job.  But there is no doubt in my mind that red states in general, are going to be doing better.

I saw the clown they call the NJ Governor on TV this morning.  My poor home state.

All very true but you also have to look at the cost of living in these states.  In my experience red states are significantly less expensive to just live.  But the reality is that more people have jobs in red states, more people are unemployed in blue states and the recovery from the shut down is being led by red states and GOP governors.
