a strong fan of Dr Debra Birx because she was somewhat less negative about the crisis than was Dr Fauci.  Now that Dr Birx has called for Trump's new super buddy Dr Scott Atlas be removed from the Coronavirus Task Force I wonder if some of the luster is lost from CRD's opinion of her?  If she doesn't think a Trumpista quack should be on the Task Force she is obviously a Commie Socialist ''Dimocrat'' unworthy of CRD's admiration.

Getting your news from an Acosta tweet  Archie?  How novel.

Birx was very level headed in the initial stages of the pandemic, as there was little information about the behaviour of the virus to go on.  Many found that valuable, including me.   Now that there are many clinicians and scientists with real world experience with this virus, their opinions may differ from Birx and Fauci.  If Birx and Fauci are uncomfortable with this, they can certainly resign from the task force if they wish.  It still is still a fact that NY has 3 times the death rate of Sweden, who really did not go to great efforts to mitigate.   And Manhattan is a ghost of what it was........

Obviously you are throwing Dr Birx under the bus and going all in with Trump's new Poodle Dr Scott Atlas...the king of herd immunity no matter how many die.  BTW, Sweden's death rate is 5 times that of Denmark and Norway.

The stench you smell wafting overhead in midtown is originating from the DC swamp.  Washington bureaucrats are averse to any change in behavior that may jeopardize their cushy job and Fauci and Birx are no different.  Rather than seeing their mugs in paid virtual and in-person guest appearances, I would rather see their faces in the virtual audiences of active continuing education offered by those real scientists and clinicians who read the literature, author controlled studies and have formulated opinions re:  SARS-COVID2 different from theirs.

Birx is still out there saying sacrifices have to be made.  Archie, face it,  lock downs don't work.  The cure is worse than the disease.  Children need to be in school.  Michigan and PA need to open.  Businesses should be allowed to open without dictates.  The virus is not smart enough to only get blocked in one direction.  Smart, responsible behaviour has been and will continue to be the best treatment until herd immunity is achieved either by the natural course of the virus or vaccine.  If Birx would get on not only Atlas' page, but many others, she and Fauci may be able to extend their bureaucratic lives another season.

I supported a lockdown!  Common sense is what is needed...you know common sense things like being patriotic by wearing a mask, staying away from dangerous situations, believing science rather than politics and recognizing that COVID is real and demands we face that reality!

Now, l hope you are honest enough to admit that your post does in fact throw Dr Birx under the bus!

Did I specifically mention you when I said, "lockdowns don't work"?  It was a general statement and for the most part I find that I agreed with almost everything you just said.  I still don't believe COVID is a crisis and I am at risk consistently.  Extremely contagious, yes.  Infectious and dangerous to specific populations, yes, but the numbers are certainly improving.  Are there certain therapeutics that can limit the damage if given at appropriate times, yes.  Is common sense and aggressive hygiene important in limiting spread, absolutely.  Are masks as important as the above, I have my scientific doubts.
