So the numbers are in for the year from the CDC and they have defined the number of deaths FROM the ChiCom virus and it is only 6% of the total or around 20,000.  The rest are being described as deaths WITH the China virus which in my estimation is wildly overstated.  Be that as it may, the CDC has very quietly stated what many of us already knew.....the number of deaths FROM the virus are insignificant compared to the numbers we see splashed all over the news in order to allow the Governors to continue to act like dictators.

So what should this mean to a sane and rational world?  First, we need to focus like a laser beam on the elderly and those that have co-morbidities in terms of protecting them from exposure.  Second, we need to revisit the restrictions and shut downs for the broader public and especially small businesses and make them more effective by targeting those actually susceptible to the virus.  Third, we need to be realistic about the current measures in place as they are apparently not effective.  States with the most extreme measures are no better off and in many cases far worse than those with less restrictions.  And yes, that includes what is apparently not helping, the widespread use of masks.

That means that 6% of those who died with COVID-19 through Aug. 15 didn’t have any other reported conditions.

It’s also not new information; the agency has been providing the same information since May."

I ask this question...Would an older person still be alive if they did not have the Virus? I believe the answer is most would still be alive and died from complications due to the vrus. To me, the virus killed them. Without the virus, the majority would still be living with their current health conditions.

I would remind you that tens of thousands of elderly die each year from viruses, pneumonia and other diseases that are fatal due to their age and infirmity......well except over the last year or so when all these deaths miraculously disappeared.  Same for younger people with co-morbidities.  In fact, the virus is less deadly to those under age 65 than all those other diseases.  And yet we don't shut down the economy and force healthy people to wear masks everywhere they go.  But you've made my point exactly.  Instead of harming the lives and livelihood of all Americans we should focus like a laser beam on the elderly and those with co-morbidities and let the rest of us go about lives and get the economy back on track......something that was going to happen with Trump as President....now not so much.

There is no doubt that the Wuhan virus is more deadly for the elderly and those with co-morbidities because it is a respiratory illness.  So lets focus on protecting them and drop all the other nonsense.  But when your real goal is something other than protecting people then you don't follow the science, you follow the ideology or politics.  For Democrat Governors of failed states like CA, IL, NY, etc. this is an excuse to act like a dictator in the hopes they can get the Federal government to bail them out from their fiscal irresponsibility.  That should never happen....period. They made their bed and there is no reason they should be bailed out.

Archie is, as usual, factually incorrect.  But there are no accurate, scientifically validated facts if they originate from those on the right of the political spectrum according to Archie, just rhetoric. so why bother trying to educate him.  Same can be said for the majority of the left in this country, if it's not spoon fed into their mouths from CNN or MSNBC, it must be false.
