There used to be a lot of good discussions on this board, but it looks like it has been taken over by petty squabbling between GF and other people.  It's a shame, because there were thoughtful people providing interesting information and good discussion.

Hmmmm....seems about the same to me.  I have put Archie on ignore so maybe that's why I have a different view.  Goofy is being his usual self.....not meant as a compliment.

Hound, I assumed, incorrectly, that you had me on Ignore to avoid reading the truth and facts I post attempting to keep the Right truthful in their posts. May I suggest you utilize the Ignore feature to enhance your well being.

I miss reading your articles in the Outlook.

This forum is not the place to come for philosophical discussions and enlightenment.  However, it can be quite entertaining and revealing when taken with 16 oz of very cold beer. (Dosage can be adjusted as needed)

Well, I don't drink, so alcohol won't be happening.  But I don't agree with you.  There used to be good discussions but now it is like junior HS.  I guess if name calling and sophmoric back and forth floats your boat.....

WELL SAID HOUND--ANYTIME ANYONE POSTS SOMETHING WORTHWHILE AND MEANINGFUL , YOU CAN BE ASSURED IT WILL IMMEDIATELY BE FOLLOWED BY HATE, SPITEFUL, ARGUMENTATIVE COMMENTS; COUPLE SWIGS OF PEPTO BISMOL MIGHT HELP GET THROUGH THE MEANINGLESS NARRATIVE (GOBBLE GOOK); REMEMBER THEY'RE RIGHT--YOU'RE WRONG

It's not a matter of who is right and who is wrong - it is when the discussion dissolves into petty namecalling.

There are less than a handful on both sides of the pollitical spectrum who seem to need to build themselves up by tearing others down.  They don't respond thoughtfully, just attack.  I often wonder if they would say the things they say on this forum to the person's face.  It is doubtful.

I would.  Ask anyone who know's me.

I agree although Lifer might be the exception.  I assume that most of the people here, when they step out from behind their alias' are normal, reasonable people.  I really don't know what people get from tearing each other down and name calling.  I would have thought that this past year, whether people agree on the details of COVID and how it has been handled, that we have more in common than we are different.

I'm 4 weeks out of surgery to replace my knee and it has been reinforced in my mind that a little kindness goes a long way.  We don't have to agree on everything.

How is rehab going?  From my experience irehab isn't fun but well worth the effort and discomfort.

I'll take that as a compliment Hound.  I am not two faced.  If I say it behind your back I will say it to your face.  That only makes me honest and not a hypocrite.  Most that know me consoder me a reasonable person still.  IF you ask me an opinion I am certainly going to give you mine, like it or not.  I don't fall sway to peer or public pressure to conform to what is popular just to go along to get along.

I had a guest a while back that ask me if I had an opinion on everything.  I resonded absolutely and so should you.  The   difference is I don't hold back on letting others know them.  When I hear bullsh!t I throw the bullsh!t flag and will call out anyone.

My vitriol here is only for the one idiot who loves to come preach to us about how everything we know and do is wrong.  Any "architect" that argues medicine with a doctor is a fool, and I would guess 99.9% of real archetects would agree because they are educated individuals.  Now our archie is no more an architect than I am, he is just an idiot liberal who likes to pontificate and believes he is superior to everybody else.  I flame him becuase I know it triggers him and that give me perverse delight in life.  I gave up on goofy becuase it just rolls off him like water off a ducks back so its no fun anymore.  Idon't even have to worry about archie seeing this cuz he has me on ignore. Wink. Wink.

The rehab is going okay  but I am still not at the point where I would be thinking "that wasn't so bad".  I was expecting pain, but not quite this level of pain.  But considering the pain I was in before surgery, at least I know there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

I have no problem with someone that states their opinion.  I tend to speak my mind and it puts some people off, but I can accept it if we don't have the same opinion.  I like it if someone states information that I hadn't previously considered.

It was at about the four week point that I began to despair, to be impatient, and want the discomfort to go away. Give it a couple more weeks, and stay with those exercises. I don't like the expression "no pain, no gain, but you have to limber up all those tendons and cartilages and introduce them to the "new normal". Don't be surprised if your new knee "pops" when you walk. It just happens and if there is no pain, there is nothing to worry about!

You just described perfectly where I am.  4 weeks and I am just ready for this to be over!  I am diligent with the exercises, and I find I can walk around the house without the cane.  I understand that week 6 will be the "magic" week.  I guess the silver lining is that I don't feel like shopping for plants, so I won't go overboard this year..

It was about the four week point that the words of a family friend who had both knees replaced "you will never regret it" had me throwing the BS flag.  But as it turns out I now agree with her.  Your recovery might take more than six weeks, but with a good physical therapist and your determination you will be fine.

When my mom had both hers done at the same time she was in a lot of pain.  She found out her best friend was a swimming pool to do her exercises.  Cool water helped with inflammation, and it takes some of the weight off so she could do more reps and got better range of motion then her regular rehab exercises.

Husband had both of his done years ago, and he has never regretted it.  I have three other friends - one is a month ahead of me, one is 6 months ahead and one has had her knee and both hips done.  Physical therapist told me that I had a "microwave" attitude when I was actually in the slow cooker..... Part of my problem is that I am a perfectionist and can get caught up in trying to be "perfect".  Nothing to be done but to go forward.

I didn't realize that you had yours done.

I wouldn't be so free with advice and encouragement if I hadn't "walked the walk". Did hubby do both at the same time?  Now that would be a challenge, not having the " good knee" to carry the load while the retread heals.

My wife had her left knee done 3 years ago and cussed, bitched and moaned for six weeks but by the 2nd month she was saying it was the best decision she had ever made.  Now...what about her right knee?!

And refereed a lot of soccer, up to the college level. So i asked my therapist if i could run again with the new knee. Her answer:  Only if someone is chasing you!

No, husband had his done 6 months apart.  His were bad for years - starting from Viet Nam.  I don't know why mine went bad - I've never been a runner.  It started a few years ago and I was able to get by with steroid shots, until last Fall.  It got to the point that grocery shopping was horribly painful and the next day, I was not pleasant to e around because of the pain.  I had PT yesterday and they assure me that I am where I need to be.
