Rasmussen, who gets it right more often than others:

POLITICS

Election Integrity: 62% Don’t Think Voter ID Laws Discriminate

Most voters say it’s more important to prevent cheating in elections than to make it easier to vote and, by more than a two-to-one margin, they reject claims that voter ID laws are discriminatory.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 29% of Likely U.S. Voters say laws requiring photo identification at the polls discriminate against some voters. Sixty-two percent (62%) say voter ID laws don’t discriminate. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

A majority (51%) of voters believe it is likely that cheating affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, including 35% who say it’s Very Likely cheating affected the election.   WOW!

The survey of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on April 11-12, 2021 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Concerns about cheating have plagued President Joe Biden ever since Election Day. In November, a Rasmussen Reports survey found 47% of voters believed it was likely that Democrats stole votes or destroyed pro-Trump ballots in several states to ensure that Biden would win. An overwhelming majority of GOP voters believe Democrats cheated in 2020. Republican officials have responded by launching an election integrity project to make it “easier to vote and harder to cheat.”

Asked which is more important, making it easier for everybody to vote, or making sure there is no cheating in elections, 60% of Likely Voters say it’s more important to prevent cheating, while 37% said it’s more important to make it easier to vote.   Georgia did both!

Only 22% of voters say it is currently too hard to vote, while 34% said it’s too easy to vote, and 41% say the level of difficulty in voting is about right.

Majorities of all racial groups – 59% of whites, 56% of Blacks and 63% of other minority voters – say it is more important to make sure there is no cheating in elections than to make it easier to vote.  Georgia did both!

Likewise, majorities of all racial groups – 64% of whites, 59% of Blacks and 58% of other minority voters – reject the claim that voter ID laws discriminate against some voters.

Sixty-one percent (61%) of Democrats say it is more important to make it easier to vote, a view shared by just 15% of Republicans and 34% of unaffiliated voters.

Among voters who say it’s Very Likely that cheating affected the 2020 election outcome, 92% say it’s more important to prevent cheating than to make it easier to vote.

President Biden’s strongest supporters are least likely to say preventing cheating in elections is a higher priority. Among voters who strongly approve of Biden’s job performance as president, just 17% say it’s more important to make sure there is no cheating in elections than to make it easier to vote. By contrast, among voters who strongly disapprove of Biden’s performance, 79% say it’s more important to prevent cheating.

Seventy-five percent (75%) say requiring voters to show photo identification such as a driver’s license before being allowed to vote is necessary to “a fair and secure election process.”

After Georgia passed a new election law, Major League Baseball (MLB) decided to punish Georgia by moving the annual All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver. Most Americans think it’s a bad idea to mix sports and politics, but a majority of Democratic voters say MLB made the right decision.

For the dims, discrimination would be if ONLY minorities had to show ID's while Caucasions didn't.  Making everyone show an ID is just prudent behavior, not racism.

If everything is racist then nothing is.

This survey is pretty interesting.  I will have to check out Rasmussen since I am unfamiliar with it.

it will be an eye opener I suspect!  Rasmussen is always the favorite poll of the Trump Personalty Cultists on this forum.  It is the ONLY poll that consistantly had Trump approval in the positive range throughout his sorry 4 year reign.  Rasmussen currently has Biden even while the average of the other polls on 538 have him up about 15%.

Now think about it for a minute...Do voter ID laws discriminate? I hope not because if they do they are unconstitutional.  As long as the requirements are the same for ALL citizens there is no discrimination, but to the extent having to obtain the ID is more difficult for a few among they certainly can and do supress voter participation.

Now don't pick on the poor dimokrap, mentally unstable Trump haters (TDS).  It's just unfair to think they can think thru their raging response......just gotta type, type, can't rationlize!!  Can't think....just like Hiden does!

Please point out where I said I was not in favor of a voter ID.  An ID of some sort has ALWAYS been required to register to vote and anyone who says anybody should be able to simply walk off the street and register to vote is an idiot.  Anybody that thinks making getting the ID so onerous that some of our fellow citizens find it extremely difficult or impossible to obtain the ID is not voter supression is a bigger idiot.

Think about this.  Just about every jurisdiction now requires a ''picture'' ID to vote today and 99% of the time that ID is a drivers license.  Now to get that Drivers License a proof of age and citizenship (birth certificate), and proof of residency (a utility bill or lease) is all that is needed.  NONE of these have a picture on them.  Any nut could get a certified copy of anybody's birth certificate and present a fake lease and get a Driver's License with photo.  Maybe the voter ''fraud'' is occuring at DDS instead of the polling place?!

Its more difficult for me to purchase my favorite bourbon because my county is dry.  According to Archie, this is cocktail suppression.

Not quite Archie, Georgia requires, the last time i checked, a SS card or W2 also. Not saying that obtaining a fake DL is difficult, just go to any college campus and you can find someone to manufacture one......

CRD suggests one might consider breaking the law in order to follow the new law.  Thanks Cuff-Links, I'll pass that along to those non-drivers who still think it is important to vote.  Of course i'm not sure how many non-driving 85 year olds with no family will be able to get to a college campus.

should be considerd somewhat less important than the insuring every eligible citizen the right to vote.

Find me ONE 85 yo non-driving resident in GA that isn't already "in the system" in some way.  Don't waste your time, there aren't any.  They are on SS at at the minimmum.  Now one has to wonder how they got signed up for SS, Home Health, Food Stamps etc. since you think they are such incompetent invalids that they can't get to any of these agencies to sign up for benifits.  This si especially true in GA which will give virtually anyone a Non-Drivers State Issued ID at no cost, that means FREE dum@ass.

I reccomend you go out into the Ghettos you love so much and meet and get to know some of those folks.  Once you do you will leran that is is VERY common for a lot of them to not ony have one ID, but two.  One in their "Government Name" and another in thier "street name".  I am not talking street names like Xidens buddy Corn Pop, or pooky or any other nickname, but just another name that is legit.  Now I fully expect you to call me a liar and racist and all kinds of crap just for typing this, but I challenge you find out for yourself, but be carefule because when your old liberal ass shows up asking questoins they will know you are a "white saviour" and probably beat the crap, if not life out of you.  I will however take you someplace where you can learn the truth, straight from the black folks mouths.  Then I will b!tch slap you and send you crying back to the hole you crawled out of.

Your continuous stupidity brings out the worst in people.  Think about it!  BTW, since you live in da hood, what actions have you taken to secure your house, car, etc?  Ya better be planning for the worst.....cops are quitting all over the nation....guess who won’t answer your 911 call.  You’ve already been tagged as a liberal communist dimokrap, so they ain’t coming to your house!! Think about it!

Perhaps an individual's effort to register for the hallowed right to vote should in some small way mirror the efforts of those patriots  and Service men and women who have given of themselves, some supremely, to secure that right.  Enough of the Pansy Party pity party.

Not at all Archie.  The efforts that you Pansies deem too complicated, taxing, and formidable are part of the routine for most on this forum.

Maybe we should only question the trans black hispanic asian military officers to get their input, lets not worry about the rest of them - their opinion does not matter.

Find me a non partisan election academic/expert that has gone on record with evidence that any of these laws promote voter suppression.

CNN guest commentators don't qualify Archie.

but the very fact they express an opinion different from yours will automatically disqualify them as ''unbiased'' in you eyes.  I have not heard either comment on SB-202, but it would be intesested get the input of Dr's Benard Fraga and Alan Abramowitz of Emory University.

SB-202 has some good aspects which will make mail in voting more secure, but the good aspects are accompanied by other elements which will make it more difficult for some otherwise qualified citizens to vote...not many for sure, but when elections are being decided by 12,000 votes out of 5 million cast, it does not take many to alter the outcome.  That is exactly what the Republicans are counting on by passing this legislation.

Operative word...MOST.  If it is simple and easy for me it must be as simple and easy for MOST. On or off this forum do those fellow citizens not affluent enough, educated enough, mobile enough or well off enough to fall among the MOST simple not deserve to have the opportunity to vote with the same degree of convenience as you and me?  Damn you really are either very arrogant, completely unaware of the problems encountered daily by some Americans, or of the bigoted opinion we need ''better'' voters rather than more voters.

The very words of your post make my point...if it is more ''complicated, taxing or formidable'' for some elligible citizens than others to qualify to cast a ballot it is by definition voter supression.  Now I agree that it is impossible to make it exactly as easy for all but we should at least try minimize the difficulties, not add more.  I know you find it hard to believe, but there are between 250,000 and 300,000 adults among the almost 11 million Georgians who do not possess a picture ID.
