Am looking for a new or used boat. Does anyone have an opinion about who the top manufacturers are of bowriders? I assume Sea Ray and Chaparrral are very good. What about Caravelle and Crownline? Are there any manufacturers to avoid? Thanks

Those are all good boats and I would consider any of them used if they are in good shape. Look for what you want in a boat first (engine, size, features) and then consider brand and price. Here is a web site for owner ratings from JD Power.

Then go to the NADA site for pricing. Don't forget to add options and make sure motor size is correct.

I have a 97 Caravelle bow rider and love it. Its been a great boat. Listen to Jlaz though. Its the features that MAKE the boat. After all, many of the engines are Mercruisers, foots are Volvo's, etc. Mine has the 350 and I enjoy the power and speed it produces. Does burn some fuel when playing hard though. Its a good combination of features that makes for great results. Look for the ones that are going to best suit you.

All good advice. I would listen very carefully to all if you have never owned a boat. Most people dont listen to seasoned owners and buy a boat to small on the first try. Its then when they call and want me to sell it for them!! I handle a large line of new and used boats at Lake Martin. Email me and I can make some recomendations for you. I have a few nice used units for sale now with motivated sellers, as well as several new lines to choose from.
