We have a 1998 Sea Doo GTX. It has been great until last weekend. I was pulling two children in a tube. We hit a wake, it bogged down and would not power up. We idled back to the dock. It starts fine but simply will not GO. Any thoughts on what happened?

...the mystery deepens. We were back at the lake Monday and the jet ski started on the first try and powered up as always. Go figure.

This is just a guess also....Check the fuel filter...I had a clogged fuel filter once and it caused the same symptoms

I had a similar experience a few years ago and it was a spark plug wire. The connection was loose, and it would run fine when I pushed the wire back into the rubber cap.

very simple solution...you sucked a chunk of wood/debris into the water intake cavity which would allow it to idle but jam the impeller upon acceleration..........because the debris floats, it would not fall back out until removed from water (on the lift)........has happened to me numerous times......

BigFoot, you are almost certainly correct as the problem fixed itself. Thanks to everyone for your help. This is our first jet ski.

This has been a bad year for floating debris thanks to all the spring rains and recent flooding conditions........I have been lucky so far that I have not had an impeller jam......but at least we have had plenty of water in the lake....good luck to you and hope your pwc continues to run good!
