So heres how the story goes, I recently purchased an older Checkmate Ski boat that is a inboard outboard. I ran over to the lake yesterday to fire it up and get some water running through it. Well after running it for about 3 minutes, I turned it off and heard water dripping in the bilge. So I pulled the engine cover off and looked down underneath the engine to see water dripping from the front body mount. Well clearly water wouldnt leak from the body mount, however being new to marine engines I dont know how exactly the cooling system works or where the leak could be coming from. I have a Mercruiser 260 Sterndrive, and other than this leak it is running phenomenally for its age. I saw that Cat Boat does some work over near Real Island, which would be great considering I can see Real Island Marina from the house where the boat is stored, but I dont know if he would do little service work like this. If any body knows where the leak could be coming from or where I could get good fair service work done around Real Island area, please let me know. Thanks

CATHOUSEMARINE@AOL.COM to discuss your performance possibilities today! Or call 334-358-2838. His name is Steve. He is located in Prattville.

You may have a leaking water pump.

It may just be a bad hose or a loose clamp on the hose. Should be easy to find.

TateAU, I would be glad to check things out for you. I am not located at Real Island, my business is in Prattvile. I am working in the shop today (sunday) if you see this reply today and if you would like to call me there the number is 334.358.2838. Is the boat on the trailer? If you call me in time, I will meet you and pick the boat up and bring it back here. I sure hope you winterized well and the water is not coming from a cracked block. That would be ashamed! Look foreward to hearing from you. We are not backed up now, so repairs will be prompt. Gonefishin' thank you for mentioning me.
Steve

Haven't been on in a few days, but I appreciate the advice. Turns out it was the water pump. Seeing as how I am new to boats I didn't realize that the back seat could be removed to access the starboard side of the engine. Once I did this I had a much better view of where the leak was coming from. I should be able to install it myself, but if I run into any problems I'll bring it down to you Steve. The exhaust manifolds have previously been cracked and welded shut and will soon need to be replaced, when I scrape up some money to do so I will definitely give you a call. Thanks again for the help.

I have a couple of used exhaust manifolds here, so when you need them give me a hollar.
Steve
