I plan on fishing Martin on 23 June for the first time. What would be the recommended area and tactics. I have heard that Sandy Creek is good around the docks. Where is a good ramp in the Sandy creek area?

Hey , i've lived in the Sandy Creek all my life and do most of my bass and crappie fishing there. Catfish I head to the Youngs Island area. For the bass in Sandy during the day a finess worm (4"pumkin seed )the spots will eat it up, crappie at night turned slow for a while but started to get better this week. I always fish jigs but this week I started throwing minnows and had luck when the fish bit slow. Old Susanna Rd out of Dadeville will take you straight to the boat ramp , let me know if you go during the week (at night )and i'll turn you on to a few places.

Thanks for the info, We will be coming on Friday the 23rd of June. If all goes well, we will be there early to try and get the early morning bite. Hopefully we can get some good top water action. We do a lot of finesse fishing and we are looking foward to the trip. Love to fight those spots. We have fished West Point for many years and just getting back into it after a few years off. Thanks again for the info, fi you are ever over West Pointway drop me a line and I will help if I can.

Hey Scarab, I am gonna try to catch some catfish on Saturday. Do you normally fish right around Youngs island, or do you have places in that vacinity? I do a lot of Bass fishing and Crappie fishing at the lake, but i havent catfished in a long time up there. I was gonna go to the Hogpen slough and fish over there, and i have also been told the around Youngs Island was good too. I just dont know where exactly. I guess i could just use the trial and error method. Also, do you usually fish with worms or livers? Any help would be grealty appreciated.

I fish the the North side of the little island there at Youngs.Lot of sand and it drops off quick.Mostly pink worms and when available I get shrimp and soak them in vanilla extract. I went crappie fishing yesterday evening and a hour before dark they ate it up and soon as dark fell they quit .
