Which Fish Finder, one with trolling motor OK but want a better one for the dash, probably mount one with trolling motor up by trolling motor. Teh fish finder that came with trolling motor was a Bottom Line Professional 1101, just in case you are curious.

Looking at -- both highly rated and under $200.00

Garmin 250 http://www.fishfinder-store.com/gafi250.html

Eagle Seafinder 320DF http://www.fishfinder-store.com/ease32.html

No more numbers please GF the trolling motor stats about killed me - LOL

Sort of leaning towards the Garmin as the fish look like fish rather than seagulls.

Any suggestions here or other options or thoughts?

Good luck with the motor. I know you will enjoy it.

There are a few basic questions to concern yourself with when looking for a depth finder. First, color or monochrome ? Color is awesome but in the $200 range monochrome is what you will be buying. The size of the screen and the number of pixels. The more pixels the sharper the image. There are two basic transducers. A 50/200 hz and a single 200 hz. The dual frequency is designed for deep water while the single frequency is good for the lake.

As to the Garmin 250, it is a discontinued model.

http://www.garmin.com/products/ff250/

“This product has been discontinued. We are happy to help you, and we will continue to support this product.

Suitable for both freshwater and saltwater, the Fishfinder 250 is available with either a dual-frequency 50/200 kHz transducer for deep-water applications, or a single-frequency 200 kHz transducer for shallow inland lakes and bays.

The Fishfinder 250's slim profile also makes it ideal for mounting in-dash or on the bow. The unique quick-release, one-knob tilt swivel-mount allows for easy viewing at any angle.
Garmin part number: 010-00343-02
Suggested Retail Price:
$212.49 U.S.D. (for domestic US market only) (single-frequency transducer)

Garmin part number: 010-00343-01
Suggested Retail Price:
$289.27 U.S.D. (for domestic US market only) (dual-frequency transducer)”

The Eagle is made by Lowrance. The model Seafinder DF320 is a dual frequency is really for deep water and is more of a salt water unit. Notice Seafinder!!!!!!

The fish image is available on most, if not all, units by all manufacturers. Eagle/Lowrance call it Fish Track and shows different size fish and their depth. There are two units that seem to fit your need by Lowrance--Eagle Fishmark 480 which lists for $209 and Lowrance x96 which lists for $199. Units are discounted so you will pay less. The Eagle unit is 5 inch diag. screen with 480x480 pixels. The Lowrance is also 5 in diag screen with 320x320 pixels.

I would suggest you contact Three Rivers Marine Electronics and talk to
Clint Parks. He is a supporter of a forum I go to that discusses fishing and boating. He always is available to help someone having problems with their equipment. He will guide you and give you a good price. The Eagle seems to be the best value for the money in your price range. You will want a single 200 transducer with the unit.He sells Garmin also.
