I thank you all for the advice I received recently. Now with only a few days left until I and my boys battle with "bass" begins I was hoping for a few hot spots to try beginning this Saturday the 5th of August. The time for talk is over. This year is going to be the year we tame the creature of the deep. After we lure those bass onto our hooks people are going to talk about our exploits for years to come. I may even be asked to host a fishing show on ESPN. Or, like every other year I will be dreaming of what a "Bass" really looks like. Who knows? Anyhow, any last minute suggestions would be greatly appreciated. See ya very soon.

Some key advice I could give you is.....If you are fishing in clear water (which most of LM is) use light line like 8 lb test. Also use small lures like small plastic shad imitations that fall real slow. The water is hot and the bass are in the shade. I hope yall accomlish your goal.

Catch small bream, 3" or so and fish them as bait about 2 ft off bottom in 40 ft water off Wind Creek park.

Thanks for the advise. I will give it a try. Problem is I have been here for 3 days and have not been able to catch a thing, even a 3" bream. But I am not giving up.

You can buy bait fish in the 3-5 inch range at a bait store or try a minnow trap with dog food or crackers for bait.

Nothing beats a cast net for shad. You drive around 'til you see swirling fish at the top. You cast out and catch some of the shad and use them for bait. But I'll bet you cannot use a cast net so just drive around until yous see bait fish swirling around the surface. This means there are predators below. Go upwind and upstream and drift close to bait and throw lures close, then into the swirling baitfish.

Use birds to help you find the bait.

It is the ultimate "match the hatch"

Thank you all for the help. Alas, this was the worst fishing to date. I did not catch anything more then a headache. I spent six (6) straight days on Lake Martin and only got two bites the whole time. Not one (1) fish the whole time. I will be put in the record books as the worst fisherman to ever fish at Lake Martin. However, I will be back! Same time, same Lake next summer. Unbelievable, I still cannot believe it. Dynamite would not have helped me. See ya next year!
