I dont know if we have any duck hunters out there, but was wondering if anyone knows the law on hunting ducks and geese on the lake. I know you have to be 50 yards from any public road or any building, but what i dont know is if i can find an island and set up on it or if i have to stay in the boat to hunt. Any help would be nice. Thanks

Jonathan

As far as I know, it is perfectly legal. However, courtesy to the landowners should be used. I talked to the game warden this summer (while I was getting a ticket for an expired registration), and he said that hunting on the lake was legal when the season dates where in. Be sure to have everything: stamps, registration, proper duck dates, shooting hours, ect. because someone will call the law on you.

I have not seen any teal on the lake, but there is an early season this year last from this weekend to the last weekend in September. Also Canada geese season is coming up soon.

You need to check on that Goose Season. I think it has already came and gone. I believe it came in a few weeks before dove season and went out right before dove season. I have never thought about hunitng ducks at the lake. but it would be a good place to try. It would just be hard to find a place where there were no cabins.

Are you kidding? There are tons of place without cabins near them. Anyway, by Alabama law you only have to be 50 ft. from any inhabbited structure ( public or privite ) or from a public road. So whrn the water comes all the way down, your at least 150 ft from anything. I will for sure have my duck boat down at the house for this duck season.

Islands MUST be at least 40 acres to hunt on.
