If anyone is looking for the bass right now, I have been tearing them up in the backs of the creeks this month. The shad are all over the place and the bass are never far away. I don't think that I have ever had so many double digit days in a row as I have had lately, and that's despite the fact that I haven't been able to hit the lake until late afternoon. Shad Raps in deeper water and small floating Rapalas in shallow water have both been producing for me. I'm sure that other lures will work, but since I only have about three hours to fish, I have been sticking with what has been working for me.

Have you been fishing the Rapalas in the afternoon like a jerkbait?? What part of the lake are you fishing? My dad and i are fishing in a company tournament up there this Saturday and would love any help we can get. I have fished the Manoy/sandy/Madwind creek part of the lake and had good secess the past few times i have fished. I fished up around Parker creek this past weekend and th week before with moderate success. I have been catching fish on Trick worms, Jighead/worm combo and a Bass Pro shops Pop-r type bait. Those have been the best for me. I always keep a shad rap on but i havent caught any on it the past few trips. Any tips or locations would be GREATLY appreciated!!

How deep is shallow, and how deep is deep?

Thanks....

I am fishing up in the Little Kowaliga Creek area, mainly in the very backs of the creeks. The bass are chasing schools of shad, and my best results have come with a straight fast retrieve trying to get a reaction bite. I catch more fish in or near the creek channels, although I do see surface activity on the surrounding flats. In the past, I have also used topwater chuggers with some success. The water back there is too shallow for even shallow diving crankbaits. My best crankbait area is actually a small slough that is deeper and narrower than most other sloughs on that end of the lake. I just park on one side and cast a no.5 Shad Rap across, crank it down, and then use a stop and go retrieve.

I have a club fish-off next weekend up there....how long do you think this will hold up?

Are there any fish being caught drop shotting or jigging a spoon?

We won the tournament we fished in Saturday. We had 12lbs 8ozs and also had the big fish which was a 3lb 8oz LM. We put in at Stroud boat landing and stayed in the Bama Park/Blue Creek part of the lake because of the wind. We caught about 20-25 fish on spinnerbaits, trick worms, shakey heads, Shad raps and a jerk bait. We caught them in sloughs, on points , and on peirs. I think everyone that fished caught a lot of fish. We just lucked up and caught some nice LM. We had the 3.8 and also had one right at 3lbs. The fish are everywhere. The only schooling fish we saw were small. I did catch one 2.5 lb spot close to some schooling fish on a point. A guy here in Tallassee fished the CABBT tournament last weekend also and he caught a 8 lb 2oz LM on Sunday. He said there were several fish over 5 lbs caught on Saturday and Sunday.
