Does anyone have the name of the company that installs the underwater lights?

You don't need an installer. Go to underwateradvantage.com and order a light and put it in yourself. If I can do it anyone can, hope this helps.

Ronnie Dennis lives on the lake and makes this type of light. His company name is Green Monster Light. He has a web site and is also on e-bay.

We went to the boat show in ATL on Saturday. We bought one of the 12 Volt models from this company.

I have one of the lights from Underwater Advantage and installed it myself. Very simple. The agent out of Montgomery charges $100. My neighbor was so impressed with my light he bought two lights. It is quite a show at night.

Anyone ever (successfully) tried to make an underwater light yourselves? If so, how?

I put one in last year. Works great. They are priced by the lenght of cable. Short is cheapest. I dug out the lake bottom tp put it in a treated lumber box.

You must wash off the scum that developes if not used nightly. Gets hot if not covered by water. No ploblem if its 15 feet down or more. MUST avoid propellers.

Does the light really illuminate green or is that just the effect in water?
What type of bulb does it use? Google has a nice easy spell check-LOL!.

Just a word of caution if you've got a sterndrive in the water at the same pier - be careful of corrosion issues!!! Getting the installation wrong will greatly aggrevate this, but putting one in the water all can add problems.

That is a very good point. I didn't think about the galvanic corrosion possibility with current leakage, but I've had real issues before in marinas in salt water from boats. Wonder what the people selling these lights say about current leakage?

If the first thing that come to mind after you install the light and are about to plug it in is," duh! hey yall watch this ", please uninstall immediately.

Do you think it would withstand the rigors of being attached to the underside of my swim platform?

Too many decisions... Do I want a hull mounted light, or a new boat? :-)

LOOK!! I have had enough of the BS!

TRUE INFO v/s A GUESS!!

You guys ask an honest and great question about underwater lighting the other day and I was informed of this through two people that know me. They ask me to help answer question about underwater lighting. I had never been on The Lake Martin Forum before so I said I would check it out. I responed to the question and tried to correct some of the answers you guys came up with. I hoped to provide a resourse that would set the facts straight. I told you about Myself and My Company and the fact that I was a local guy that manufactured underwater lighting with the hope that would establish a more trusting relationship as far as underwater lighting goes not SALES. ALL I WANTED TO BE WAS A RESOURCE!!!! I did not care if you wanted to buy a light form me or not and that is why I said I was not trying to post an AD for my Business. I also thought that if I posted an AD for my company my tag would not be posted and I wanted to help answer your question and set the facts straight. (TRUE) This was in defence of My Business but you can ask anyone who owns a GREEN MONSTER Fishing Light I Work HARD with each person to make sure they get the a light that is right and will work for them. I entertain ALL Question about underwater lighting and believe me I have had some wierd on. I enjoy what I do and take PRIDE in being able to provide a product that is safe and that people can enjoy for years. Don't take this the wrong why I just thought that my input would be welcomed and that seems not to be true. So I have to wonder if you old farts really want true and correct info or if you guys just that to sit around here and take bets on which one of you is going to pass out first. If any of you out there really want info on underwater lighting you can always Call ME I will do my best to answer your questions.

I own 2 of Ronnie's lights(1 for my pier...1 for my boat for night fishing). I researched these lights and decided to go with "The Green Monster Fishing Light". I made this decision for 2 reasons...1. Ronnie is a local guy ...2. He answered all my questions and concerns. He made my lights to fit my specfic needs. I am one of the 2 people that told him to log on to this forum and help you guys out with some information. I regret doing that now. I use to log on to this forum several years ago but got tired of some people being so negative, I hoped it had changed, but it seems to be same ole', same ole', just a different day. Some of you may remember me I am the one that lives part time in South Alabama and brought you green peanuts for boiling.
I know some negative posts will be made in response to this post, thats ok with me. Tell you what, I'll take my computer and ice chest to my pier with me and if I have time between taking fish off my hook and drinking a cold beer, I might reply to your post.

No problem from me Green Monster. I don’t post that often, but I enjoy hearing informational stuff on this forum more than a bunch of BS. Actually, I shouldn’t say that because sometimes I get a kick of the BS too. All in all, I don’t know most of these people on this forum, but I think it is a pretty neat group. JAW polled posters a while back and there were in excess of 50 that post from time to time and you have heard negative response to you from only a couple. So, in my opinion, the majority don’t have a problem with your post.
