This is going to be our first 4th of July on the lake and assuming the lake does not dry up and fireworks are not banned by then, we are expecting to go by water and watch.

For those of you that have gone to this before could you help with some pointers?

1) how early do we need to make our way up there to get a good spot?
2) Bham fireworks has a musical similcast on Wzzk, does Pell City?
3) will the kids be able to swim after we get there or will it be too crowded?

Please give any good ideas for the event so we can best enjoy our first time.

Good spot is relative of course. I think right in front of the huge house on the point on the main channel looking in is just fine. Any closer in and getting out is hair raising. Get there a little before dusk otherwise you feel like target practice "treading in water" just waiting. :-)

Don't know about the music.

Absolutely no swimming. It's dark and you won't believe how many boats are out there. It's amazing we don't hear about more wrecks afterward.

on tuesday 7-3-07 clear creek marina has fireworks as well. some say that they are better than the civic center. it is worth going to and being on a different day, gives you 2 days of fireworks! they shoot them after dark probably around 9ish.

they shoot them from the point at the entrance to the marina. anywhere in the open waters around that area will provide good viewing. safe boating!
