I am sure that of all the people who post here someone knows the best method to clean the water line and stains from aluminum pontoons. What is the best way? What is the best product? Where can I buy it?

I did the pressure wash too this year, it works good enough for me . Last year I did the acid wash , you can buy it at almost any parts store, you just spray it on , let it sit , then pressure wash it off. Be careful though, wear some really good gloves, the acid will do a number on your hands. The acid wash leaves the pontoons a white color , I didnt like it to well. There is a pontoon forum I visit that has alot of good info on cleaning and polishing pontoons . Im at work right now and dont have the website, if ya want it let me know and I can get it for ya.

pressure washing the toons is easy enough. The thing I would say to watch out for is, if your aluminum has the shiny finish the acid will take it right off. If your not sure what i'm talking about pay close attention to the next few boats you see, In the past I've used the acid about 1/3 to 2/3/ water, but this year i used an environmentally friendly acid that was supposed to be much safer as far as burns in eyes and on the skin i was very impressed with it. Even took some home and cleaned the coils on the a/c. If you like i can figure out what the name of it was. The brand name of the stuf was "nu-brite". the place this came from was up behinnd the wal-mart in pelham, just can't rememeber the name of it. David

Product is White Lightning (acid for aluminum) (not Greased Lightning) sold at Riverside Marine. Need a stiff brush and pressure washer. You will need a polish and your toons will shine like a new nickel.
