I have been living on Logan Martin for the past 10 years now - we live up near Poor House Marina. Back a few years ago (going on 3 now) I put in a new dock and did some minor digging around the pier (went down about 3 feet right off my dock).

At that time and pretty much after the fact - I called a number, made a sketch of what I wanted to build, and what I was going to dig out. About a week later an inspector came out and approved the digging the dock and gave me a permit. I never finished the dock to the sketch but I did dig out a bit and used the dirt to backfill my sea wall.

I still have the permit - now I am looking to finish what I started on my dock. I'd be moving the dirt over to a buddy's cleared lot in Talladega.

Have any of you hear of a no dredge no dig ban on Logan Martin?

This is a question - so don't anyone go thinking I am starting a rumor or something. I also heard that the permits went from 50 bucks to 250.

If anyone knows where I can find information on stuff like this - it'd be much appreciated.

I will try to find out and forward to you the name of the inspector that is handling the permits. I only know that Al power has contracted that inspector job out now.... David

The permit cost has gone up to around $300 I believe.
