What a super, nice bunch of boys. I was really impressed with them in the interviews and how they handled themselves on the field. This game got them to the reality of playing the big boys and I think it will help the program. Good luck to you guys next year!! RR
The only dealings I've ever had with Hawaii fans went fine. However, since we have an actual UH grad/fan on board, it would be interesting to get some feedback on the linked article.
You are correct - this is a sad situation. Based on the research I did, this incident occured as reported. I do not know if this is "the way it is." I sure hope not as this is disgraceful behavior for ANYONE! - ANYWHERE! It has been 15+ years (maybe more - I'm not tellin') since I graduated. I have not been back to Hawaii since so I do not know if guests are treated this way all the time. Again, I hope not. I do know that earlier in the season, Jones did ask the fans to "not throw" trash on the field.
I was VERY IMPRESSED with the Hawaii fans in the stands at the Sugar Bowl. They were well mannered during the entire game (the only fan that got out of control was a drunk GA fan in the student section who threw a cola cup on to the field.)
The Hawaii fans were excited for their team and loyal to them to the bitter end. I would say that 95% of the Hawaii fans stayed until the game was completely over. It was such a treat for them, (and me) that the team did so well this year. I hope to see great things ahead for them!
