I've gone crappie fishing 3 weekends in the last month, but despite great fishing reports out there, I seem to keep missing them. I've been fishing brushpiles from Camp Asca up to Bakers Bottom, some back up in coves and others out on the main channel. I usually end up catching 5-10, but never really to catch them on fire. I stick with minnows under cork, but try to vary my depth and structure until I find them.
Any thoughts out there, what I might be doing wrong, or how to increase my productivity? I know most people are fishing brush piles and tree tops, but how deep of water? Main Channel? sloughs? points? And how deep are you fishing, historically this time of year I have my bobber between 2 - 7 feet.
How long do you fish a brush pile before you move on and try another one?
