Has anyone had their boat siphoned out? We had the next door neighbor have it happen last winter, he is a full timer. We are part timers and they got us this time. We are on Coosa Island, close quarters! I took a risk filling it for winter, but the thieves could have at least put the cap back on!!! The boat was weather covered, but now I am worried about moisture issues.

Back in the good ol days when gas went to two dollars a gallon not only did some thief relieve us of our gas from the pontoon boat but they took the 3 gas tanks also.

I am just across the way from you on the backside of Coosa Island, not far from the little island with the walk bridge to it.

I guess I am going to have to put a lock cap on the boat. They also took a gas can that was under the porch. We have never had a problem before. Hope this is the end of missing items.

Your may be right. I hope not. I am going to take some action and lock things up all the time now.

That is so sad and shameful. I have a new neighbor building next door and he was asking about things like this last week. I've left stuff out all the time and nobody has bothered a thing. I had 3, 5 gallon cans sitting under the stairs near the pier and they were usually full of gas. But now I guess, things have to be locked to keep the low lifes away. Terrible.

I just put my boat back in today and filled it up. I guess I'll insure it with Smith and Wesson.

TC, that's a good insurance company... I use them myself now. I also have some things insured with Sturm-Ruger & Company. My neighbor not only had full gas cans stolen, the thiefs even stooped so low as to steal their propane cylanders for the grill. Sad indeed. Be safe.

Well I guess I need to go check to see if the tank is still there!
