I have almost left the lake several times and left my license in the jet skis or the pontoon boat. Just wanted to know if a color copy of front and back of my license laminated would be good enough for the water patrol if I get stopped?

Thats a good question. One I have wondered myself.

Theres a Marine Police guy that lurks around the Lake Martin board. Wonder if he looks around here?

I made one up and it looks as good as the original and they are going to call it in anyway.

I have asked this question of the Marine Police and the answer is no. Must have original license. You can get another license for around $5.00 or that is what it was 5 years ago.

On the same note. Does having the verification documentation of passing the boaters license test along with a current drivers license suffice? I have never had the time to go see the examiner with the verification in hand to have them simply put the extra letter on my license showing boating.

In Pell City they are only there a few days a week and I was told I would have to get in line around 6 in the morning along with all of the kids trying to get their driver's license. That's the dumbest thing I've heard to make an already licensed individual, with an approved boating certificate in hand having to go through the same group as first time license folks.

Am I the only that was told this? Just wondering? I carry my boating certificate in a ziplock on the boat with me.

Chris , that is the way they do it in Jeff. Co. also and their lines are very long. Bad thing about it is if your license is not to be renewed it still cost the full amount just to add " V " to your license. Not 100% sure but I think it cost me $ 55.00 to add V because I have a CDL license. and it wasn't due to be renewed. But you have to remember this is the same county that the woman ask me what brand of motor my Yamaha jet ski had????

Yeah, so it's basically a way to make more $$. I'll just keep my cert in the zip lock along with my license.

Chris, you can go to any license department in alabama to get your license remade, Talladega, shelby County, St Clair.

just call around and find out their hours, I have heard Pell City is the worst around because of certain hours and kids getting drivers license.

I actually went to the Shelby County courthouse in Columbiana. I was in and out within 30 minutes time. It all depends on when you go. I don't know if a copy of your certification will work or not.

Asked the same question of the Marine Police about three years ago when my under age daughter passed the test and they stated a copy of the Certificate was not allowed. That your drivers license or other form of ID had to be updated for the V to be valid.

I go to Logan on occasion, have friends up there. And have visited Logan Martin for over 20 years

Plus the Martin Forum is totally out of control and is becoming a joke in my opinion.

Think I will sell the house at Martin and move to Logan Martin as these folks seem like reasonable folks - LOL.

You know it gets like that from time to time. Entertaining at times, and not during others. Was getting crazy, but it always goes back.

I'm sure that's probably the official answer and they would be remiss to say otherwise. I would certainly hope that if I got stopped for a routine check, because I'm not going to be doing anything in my 'toon and kids that would warrant a violation, that having all of these things wouldn't prompt a ticket.

I just can't believe you can do everything online but then have to still go see the examiner and wait in line with everyone else. Why can't you just go through the renewal line with the proper documentation and them change it? Makes no sense to me.

We are planning trip soon. Tickfaw 200 mile poker run is next/first weekend in May. Then some down time and we plan to come then. I need to call Kip and see if they're going to LA for tickfaw. They are planning wedding now, and Kip is kinda whipped down (if you know what I mean). we are coming soon, that was a great day. This time, we will plan better and hang out at that place we ate at. Don't remember the name of it, but was neat place. Lookin' foreward to it.
